am a bit bored so i thought id post a quick topic.
What is your favorite Tiger I,i mean from Initial production to early production to final production any think goes.so if you pick late production explain why?
if i was to pick my favorite it would have to be the Dak version.
it looks a lot meaner in its Desert colours and the way it got all covered in dust, and as it was one of the first to see combat i have to put it at the top of my list.
cheers

Not really my Favorite Tiger - but here's a photo that I think that is the coolest in action photo there is of a Tiger I:
Looks to be a Mid-Production - still has the early cupola but appears to have a single bosche light in the center and also has spare track links on the turret. With the turret swung to the left and the tank kill in the background - just provokes a sense of power to me.
Sorry - but don't remember where I downloaded this photo from - but have seen in several different books, I believe.
I guess my favorite Tiger I would be a Late Production model with Zimmerit - I think that the removal of the outer road wheels give the tracks a better look for some reason or another - looks less cluttered or something.

I just like the Tiger I period...a bit more than the King Tiger really... To me it has the appearence of what a tank should like...except retro
I recall fliping through the TV one night and I was passing by Cartoon Network and I saw a Justice League thing and I saw a Tiger I lol

Porsche Turret King Tiger for me, love the curvy turret and that long barrel. Tiger 1 I like the cast cupola over the drum as well as a nice AA machine gun on top. so a mid or late are preferred.

Ahh I think one of the coolest Tigers is from Das Reich TIKI in its Dark Grey and sand overspray in the spring of 43... Or those early tigers rebuilt with the steel wheels ..How cool ar they!

Chris, that is a picture from the Kursk battles, possible a Das Reich or LAH Tiger, can't remember which. As for my favorite? If proposed Tigers can be included i would say the Tiger II July '45 would be mine. A Tiger II with a stabilised telescopic sight would have been a formidable enemy, and one i am glad did not appear.
If however i had to pick a prodiction vehicle? It would have to be a late Tiger 1, very good and was proven until the end of the war.

The earliest Afrika versions look the best to me.
