I started on this one about a year ago and finally had the time to get some word done...had to retire but that is also good. Now I can go completely crazy.

Very nice for your first one the scene looks very busy, which I like. One question about the Kubelwagen though, I noticed that the tires on it look fairly different from other Kubelwagen tires, these look like they dont have treads. anyone know about this?
well done

Shain...Righto, that was my mistake. Did'nt realizie it until I had finished but those are the tires that were used in the African fiasco. I"m just gonna leave them so I won't get any highnose attitudes. I'm glad you liked it.

Gotcha, didnt know they had a different set of tires for the Africa campaign. Do you (or anyone else) happen to know if all the tires were like that? Or just certain ones. I'm making an educated guess and saying they helped move through the loose sand better

You have so much going on in this one. Very nicely done. I love the groundwork..the grass looks great..the variations in the color and the thinkness of the grass..thinned in spots..looks very realistic. The vehices look very nicely done.. I like the Kubel, and i do notice it is the one from the Africa unit.. Still a great build. Is it the Tamiya one? If soo..how did you get the tires that smooth..I know on the Tamiya one..it has a bit of "character" to the tire..
Great Job.. (++)

Shain...I'm not really sure but I think that the tires (for desert use) were all about the same. Got some tank books and will have to look that one up myself.

Mary...Thanks for the good words. Yes, the kit was Tamiya. It actually came with two sets of tires and as you can see I chose the wrong set. They were already that smooth. Someday when I get other stuff finished I may swap.

FANTASTIC DIO
The whole thing is full of activity and the layout is very eye pleasing and the weathering is great and Ilike the small details as well especially the bird on the jerry cans.

Hi Ron...thanks for the nice words on your part...I checked out your web and you have some very nice stuff. The day may come when I can paint faces with your talent. Still learning, however, it's a really fine pile of fun

thats your first dio????
it looks damn fine even without considering it a first.
regarding the tires, I recall seeing a DAK Kubelwagen with tires that resembeld a BF109's wheels.
however, these had grooves in them running horizontaly just like the aforementioned 109 tires.

Thanks Elad...Yeah, that was my first. I have big plans for the next one as I have managed to develop some wherewithal as far as getting it right. Just being in the "room" , as we all know is good enough. I think I may try end of war with a Russian tank for my next try.
