Hello folks,

i finally started building DML's FLAK 36. I arrived at the step (4) where you have the choice for the loading tray.
I want to depict a gun in a anti-tank-role. Due to the little research i did, the loading tray was for a kind of automatic reloading while in elevated position (anti-aircraft-role).
is that true? or was the tray also used for anti-tank issues? i'm not quite sure if i shall assemble it.

would be nice if some could clear it up. thx in advance

The auto loading tray was used to assist the Flak while firing for air targets. However, it was sometimes removed because the human loaders could do it as well.

That said, the Flak 36 was capable of being used in multi roles: air targets, ground (tanks) targets and even indirect bombardment. While some photos exist of Flak 36s and 37s stripped down for only use against ground targets, it could and often was left in its full configuration.

The Flak crew would not have had to remove the tray to enter a fire mission against ground targets.
