I need help using forced perspective Im starting a hot LZ dio with to Heuys the UH-1D is 1/35 and the UH-1C is 1/48 im not sure how far apart to space them and also would I need to slant my scenery to 1/48 going towards the UH-1C. Im trying to figure out how big of base I need. If you folks know of pictures or just some ideas of using forced perspective I would appreciate any info or help. :-)

The idea of forced perspective is just that,making the viewer look at your work in a certain way.To this end,I believe,shadow box dioramas are best suited.Looking from one direction on a forced perspective diorama(Lets just call it a FPD)will reap the desired effect,whereas a view from another will give you a tiny verses giant.About the ground work,may I suggest a hill top or dropping off of ground work.Helps on the amount of work to do.You could also do a fore ground and background to reduce the size of the box.

It's all about "what looks right"... for example, in DisneyWorld /Orlando one of the big attractions is "Main Street USA"... it looks so real and factual - but in reality, what looks from the street viewer to be a three story building is actually only two floors tall, with the exterior 2nd floor being 90% to actual scale, and the third floor is only 66% to scale. I don't know the math, but it "looks right"... so you will have to simply experiment until you are comfortable and happy with the results... and the post above is correct - a shadow box will guide the vision correctly... looking from any other angles will diminish the desired effect.

From some quick, back of the envelope calculations, I think you are going to have to place the 1/48 example about 140% (142.857 excactly ) the distance that the 1/35 example is from the front. Does that make sense?

Let's place the 1/35 Huey at 50mm from the front. This means that to look all good, the 1/48 Huey should be placed at around 70mm from the front.

I don't have a two subjects of differing scales to try that with at hand, so check before you glue...of course
