Hi there.Slogged a few hours out on Sunday.Got Kancali street section cut out and fit to base.Very simple to work with. Will eventually try to make my own, don't want to get too over my head!I added balsa under the raised footpath to give it some more depth.Went about painting and weathering the street, will do more weathering as dio progresses. The figures i may/may not use at all,but added just to show you all the scale of the things. If everything goes to plan i should get the bottom of the base made this weekend(thats where the G.I's are going to sneak about,ha ha!)As usual any comments are welcome!!Go easy please this is my first serious attempt!

P.S Big thanks to the Belgian guys for sorting me out as in regards to pointing me in the right direction for model shops.
Cheers,Shay

I apologize if I've missed a discussion about the front side of the diorama. What's the plan for the small shelf in front of the tall base.
The street looks good, Kancali makes some good products. I've used a number of them
Whats the plan for the horse side of the diorama?

Thanks for the comments. My basic idea was start off with something small and it kind of grew out of control!
The setting is in Normandy where some Germans are passing through a village while two old people watch in dismay. The Germans are on foot with tank support, tank crew and a couple of horses(with riders) who act as scouts.
At the front of the dio(street level) i will add a fence and small grass area. This leads down a bank to the very bottom(the piece that sticks out), where some American soldiers will be sneaking around.
Cheers guys,Shay

Hey !Thanks for the all the comments.Karl'tigeriv',i will def. think about putting a panzer on the dio.and Mirko, sorry mate it,i didn't realise you'd done a dio with the crew getting their photo taken(nice dio,by the way). Those guys won't be staying there, will probably replace them with more infantry passing through on the street. On the bottom section (where the GI's will be lurking around) i glued down a thin strip of left overs from the Kancali paving section and started to do some ground work to give it a beaten path look.Adding dirt tonight.Hope to add Heiki grass if i can get to the shop in the weekend!!Will def. post some more photos this weekend.
Cheers guys!!
