My first tank in a long time, Italeri's 1/35 Tiger I in the questionable "Tunisia Olive" scheme. Built OOB except for the turret numbers.

looking at the colour of your Tiger, i was going to paint mine dark yellow but now seeing yours i have changed my mind,as i think it looks better in this green colour.
yours is a nice build but theres some attention to detail such as you have put on the late type tracks, not any fault of yours its what italeri supply, but there quit wrong in adding these tracks.also cut off the loop thing on the front and rear tow shackels.

cheers karl

Hi Karl,

Thanks for the comments. I didn't know Tigers had different track types.

The Bovington Tiger, 131, shows "mirror-image" tracks--quite curious. Were these common?

It also shows 131 with the spare track on the hull glacis, I didn't think DAK Tigers had these.

However, it also has the front tow loops, though not on the rear. What did they use in back?

Thanks again,

Fred

Nice tank bro. Very subtle weathering. Just the way I like it but one which I always fail to acheive.

I'd like to know if this tank comes with those individual tracks?

thanks,

Hi Fred,

Thant looks really great... I must admit this is the first I've heard of Tunisian Olive.... and i'm quite intrigued.... Do you have any reference links where I can read more about it? Also, I see you say it's questionable.... why is that?

Once again... looks great! Love the Tunisian Olive!

Olive Tiger I of Tunisia

Gentlemen,

Thank you for your posts.

Mondo, Italeri's tracks are partially individual links. There are about 25 individuals, they go around the sprocket and return roller, otherwise they are molded in lengths. I find them convincing, and the lengths can be flexed to a more individual look.

Michal, I used Polly Scale's Italian Air force dark green. Those who support the olive Tiger speculate they were painted with IAF stocks.

Rudi, IIRC the main source I have is from Squadron's Panzer Colors, probably book 2. My sources are from a discussion about it at Yahoo's 1-87_Military_Models group.
Here are two URLs with which you can follow the thread and read the sources, pro and con; these list sources, like Lentz & Doyle's work for Osprey, etc. Beginning of Olive Tiger Thread Olive Tiger Thread Con't.

Another good source is Bovington Tank Museum's Tiger--the one that sparked the olive debate. Bovington Tiger's Color

Not just you, but me too! Not a single picture seen.

To prevent others from disappointment, I'll post pics of a DAK Tiger (Tamiya's Tiger I Ausfuhrung Afrika), built by "Art Instructor" several years ago :
