Does any company make the currently used U.S. military 5 gallon fuel can in 1/35 (see the photo below), NOT some WWII vintage can as included in Tamiya's "modern" U.S. equipment set?
Or if anyone has scratch-built or converted someting into one, can you teach me how to? I'm getting a little frustrated here.

AFAIK, 2 manufacturers have released this type of can
Maple Leaf Models (#MLM 2001)
http://www.mapleleafmodels.com/FuelCans_pkg_Lg.jpg

and MR Modell (#MRA 35141) :

I've bought the Maple Leaf set but I've been a bit deceived and now I consider scratchbuilding one using a Tamiya modern water can as a starting point, plugging the "X+rectangle" stamping, scribing a new "0" stamping using a Verlinden or Hasegawa PE template like this one

and changing of course the handle....
Here's a link to a useful article by Kurt Laughlin on Track-Link I will certainly use for this project (one day.....)

Post scriptum : there are some modern US fuel cans in the "new" OIF Abrams kit from Academy, but they look quite poor....

Thanks a lot Frenchy! Yea, I have the "parts only" Academy Abrams kit and its fuel cans look wrong- the "o" in the middle is too long. I will first try to convert some old jerry cans into one, using a template. If I fail, I will order from Mapleleaf. They look very good btw.

ARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHH~! I am definitely going to order a Mapleleaf set. After an hour and half of sanding, filling, and scribing a new "0" on two Tamiya jerry cans, the results are: I accidentally cut my hand, and the can looks poor. I could have saved much time, which is worth more than $10, the price of the resin set! And some blood!!!

Sorry to hear your troubles. I have some of the Maple Leaf ones. They are pretty nice. Some have excess resin in the handles though, making clean up a b^%$#. I also have used the Academy ones as well. They are not bad once painted up and mounted. You need to add the center handle on them though, they only come molded with the two outer ones.

The new water jug (Tamiya) and the fuel can are not the same shape and have different caps. Fuel can is more square and the three handles as well. Better bet is to get the Maple Leaf or MR ones.

Wait for new DML M1A1 AIM kit. It will include a few of these jerrycans, with embossed text etc. Of course it will include also many other interesting extras

DML RULES OK !! Thanks for the good news Pawel !
I should have guessed this kit would include such goodies ! Now what about an ice chest, or maybe a 5 gal. water cooler (who knows....)

O, yea, one more thing. How did you guys order from Mapleleaf? B/c its web site does not really specify how to order online. I've emailed them twice but so far no answer...

I've ordered from them using my Paypal account. I've just checked their website and they say that it will be closed from October 30 to December 12. So you may not receive an answer before mid-December...... (I hope the new DML Abrams will be released sooner than that !)
