Yes there were several incidents of friendly fire against M1 Abrams which were mistaken as T-72s I believe.But there were also alot of other FF cases which is not uncommon in war.

Yes, Iraqi but also any damaged vehicle. Looking for weathering details and ideas for diorama. Thank you for the previous info. :-)
