I had given up building armor kits about 2 years ago. Gone to building all figures. Traded away or sold off all my armor kits.
Now, thanks to this site, I've gone back to building 1/35th scale kits... Do I say thank you or curse you lot for my rebirth?

Thanks,

Nate

My son and daughter got to build most of those kits, older Tamiya and a couple of newer ones too. Lots of tube glue went into the construction.

Let me know if you're looking for anything in particular.

Glad those kits got put to good use and hopefully brought some young blood into this hobby (which is touched on in another post about Gundam TV adds. I was floored when I saw one of those adds the other day ...).

Well... when I first joined the site I had maybe five unbuilt kits. The number is now up to 33... About your question "Now, thanks to this site, I've gone back to building 1/35th scale kits... Do I say thank you or curse you lot for my rebirth?" just think of it this way, with all the new kits you'll buy there will be enought to keep you busy for a loooooooong time. :-)

Rob, when I finally get around to building that subchaser, you'll be the first to know! (thanks again )

Nate & I go way back, 15 years ago he put an ad in the now defunct Military Modeler by Challenge Publications for a tanker or grunt (his words) to be a pen pal with. I had just entered active duty and was at my basic course at Ft. Knox and his ad was in the first modeling magazine I ever bought. We've been corresponding ever since.

He was a high school kid and I was a single second lieutenant (also still a kid) back then. He sent me my first Squadron Signal Panzer Colors book and sent me one of the old Squadron Mail Order flyers. Been ordering from them ever since.

We're starting to get old, huh Nate?

We are getting old, especially when you consider I'll be 30 in Feb. Remember the good old 80s? Ther Berlin Wall, Ronnie Regan. I still have that issue of Military Modeler, November 1987.
I still act like I'm 14 and don't spell much better either.
I dug out your 1987 photo too, can't get it on this post (too complicated for the likes of me).

It's been a good 15 years, buddy.

This just proves that as well as being a hobby its a good channel to meet new friends and have something in common with them.

welcome back to the fold and greeting from Australia. Queensland to be exact. Be like me and have 14 GMC-CCKW kits in the wardrobe. But my wife does not understand that I do need a few more to keep up with you lot.

Oh, that's one of the kits I've re-purchased in the last month. I've already built two. (found this one mis-marked for $22 USD while the rest were $33) I plan on doing this one as a SeeBee vehicle, still trying to round up reference on it though.
I've heard the Aus. War Museum has a good on-line photo library, but I can't seem to find it.
In my estimation, that is one of the best kits out there today, a real gem to build.
