what is the general consensus on the best and easiest way to make steps? I don't need a full stair case really but that information couldn't hurt. It's more that the building i'm working on has a raised 1st floor and I kinda want a front stoop with ledge and 3 steps, but not sure how to go about it. Balsa wood construction seems like it would be overly complex for a seemingly simple construct. And also I have the rise of my steps measured out to about 8 mm for 1:35 scale, is that about right? Thanks

You could use blocks. If you are going with 8mm then the bottom block would be 8mm tall and 24mm deep. The next block will be 8mm tall and 16mm deep. The top block 8mm tall and 8mm deep.

what type of blocks do you mean that would be able to be cut and shaped?

I was thining balsa wood blocks. It's easier than cutting stringers, steps and risers from balsa strips

If you PM me with your e-mail I will send you a PDF of a stairway that I just built out of balsa, basswood and toothpicks. I just built it for my Carentan project.

I would suggest a different way!
You make the steps like they do it in real life!
take a piece of balsa wood and draw the profile off the steps! make two pieces!(left right side of steps)
then put some balsa wood vertical for making the height of the steps! And finally close the horizontal step either with balsa wood ,plastic sheet, or you can fill it with cement putty!!(i think that's how it's called)
I hope i helped you!
i'll try to make a design of it and post it to you if you like!!
Cheers!
