i painted my model JU88 with acrylic paint with brush's as i dont have airbrush yet and read that before applying decals you should put a clear gloss coat on model first but as its acrylic too i went to paint it on and it brought of the paint in certain spots so i stopped and patched up the "damage" can anyone give me any tips on wat to do??? also i was told after gloss coat put decals on then cover model in a flat clear coat is this the best way??? sorry for all the questions only got back into modeling in the last year but thanks in advance for your replys
I've had that happen, even after primer base coat.
Don't know why it did lift off, maybe too thick? Was a pain to fix.
I went with a ( cheap ) airbrush after that. Good Luck

Hi, John You can buy f. ex. Tamiya TS-13 clear cote on a spray can. It works pretty good for a gloss coate. Be aware of the pressure in the can. It's easy to get too much paint on your models with this spray. The base colour has to be completly dry before you add the gloss coat. However, my best advice would be to buy an airbrush. Much more fun than the paint brush... :-)

Yeah i place the Tamiya Clear Gloss before placing the decals on. You can thin the gloss to reduce its damage on the paint but if you brush it on too hard, it will peel more paint off.
I know you mention that you dont have an airbrush but spraying it on certainly solves the issue of damaging your base coat.
