My entry for the Novmber MOM contest, the DUKW. It will go on a diobase later, for the Walcheren '44 campaign, but here she is 'on her own'..
Italeri kit, with stowage from the spares box and tarpaulins from tissue paper. I added the .50 MG skate ring from the Tamiya duece and a half update kit.
Please ignore the Anchor in the last picture, it's not supposed to be there.. I'm not yet sure how I am going to complete the dio, and might use the anchor as being used.
Oh, and a big thank you to Gino (HeavyArty) for pointing out some of my earlier mistakes, rectification of which have really raised the model a bit, even if I say so myself..
Cheers
Henk

Thanks Mary, I'll post progress pic's of the diorama as soon as I start.
Cheers Vinnie, Judging by the entries in the gallery so far, the quality of work is going to be very high. And not only simple OOB builds like mine, but some very impressive scratchbuilding ( Barv and Commandpost, please take a bow... ) Will you be entering something yourself?
Cheers
Henk

Henk,
I think this is your best model to date. I particularly like details of the cargo andrear deck.
Would a commonwealth DUKW have had a .50 cal?

Henk, in the interests of remaining fair, I've disqualified myself and 'Sticky' from the Armour MoM. However, other staff members are free to enter since the vote will be open and subject to everybody's srutiny! :-)

Thanks for the compliment Sean, I'm glad you like it . This is the first time that I have tried to create an faded, bleached effect with OD by lightening and darkening the basecoat colour as I spray it. Come to think of it, an OD paintscheme is a bit of a sidestep for me in any respect.. :-) . Good practise for the Firefly I have waiting impatiently in the wings. I have a Resicast crew and a large PE set to go on that one. Hmm the Walcheren campaign has been extended till the end of the year.... I wonder if ... .

Henk I was going to say that I had never seen fading on any of your other builds before. It really makes a huge difference. I a looking to make that jump but haven't purchased an airbrush yet.

Hi Derek, didn't miss you out, I'm just a slow typer.. .
Thanks, I try to make my models look 'well used', without them being ready to be scrapped. I try to stay away from the ever popular "scratch mania" technique aswel, as after all military vehicles receive a lot of maintanance/repairs. At least that's what I remember from my service. Not that I saw any real action I hasten to add, the Royal Dutch Army in 1989 being a rather part time affair.. my Signals Company anyway.. .
Alan, you're right, this is the first time I have not weathered my model with washes and dirt. When it goes on the dio however, this will have to change a bit as it will be a very wet affair. But I like this technique, and will use it again. Thanks
Cheers

Cheers Dave.
Reb, as a driver of modern articulated trucks, I can appreciate what a right pig these must have been to drive either on the road or in the water.. Hat of to your dad.
Thanks

Henk:
Really nicre job on the DUKW - love the subtile denting of the ribbing on the sides and the convincing paint. Looks like you could start it.

Thanks Konrad,
I'm pleased the way the paint job came out, so much so that I'll be building more Allied subjects soon.
Hmm, that subtle denting is more my hurried filling of the drainage slots in the ribs.. . After I finished the initial attempt, Gino (HeavyArty) pointed out that those slots were not there during the war.. so out came the filler, but with the deadline for Walcheren '44 approaching fast, I filled them a touch rough. Some have blended in well, others look like damage now. I'm happy with it.
And no need to appologies to me, better appologies to your keyboard.. :-)
Cheers
