Hey !I managed to get to the local hobby shop and bought some Heiki grass and Woodland scenics balast. The grass i wanted wasn't in stock so i had to buy a bag with some lame trees inside!I started to add plaster to the wall but was not happy with the result.A brainwave hit me(doesn't happen that often)and realised i still had some wall tiles from when i renovated my living room.I seperated the plaster from the tiles, glued it to the dio base filled up the cracks and set to work. Then sprayed a dark grey base coat, waited till it was dry and started spraying glue and adding layers of balast and sand and some saw dust.Spent half the day afterwards with the vaccum .Added the Heiki,i thought it was going to be a mission but it was quite easy.Unfortunately the paved section on top reacted with a little overspray from the glue...so i have to start the Kancali from scratch.I'd been having too much fun to let that ruin my day!
Hope to get the paved area finished tonight and then start on the clock tower during the week.
Any feedback would be great.
Cheers,Shay

Coming along nicely Shay, I like the old path down the bottom, Its probably to late now but would you be able to make the cliff a bit angled?

Hi Andy, the cliff does have a slight angle to it but it is a bit hard to see on the photos.I wanted to create a wall that had completed most of its erosion.Still have to add some moss to the wall for a bit of colour variation.Since posting the photo i have restarted the paving section above, and also weathered the beaten path. Also found some fine twigs in the garden, added fine leaf shaped herbs to them and glued to the slope.Gives the wall some extra life and cover for the GI'S that will be placed there.Thinking about adding some kind of tree or shrub but not sure which or where to place it.Suggestions anybody?
Cheers,Shay

Still toying with the idea of a shrub Andy but probably will listen to your advice!! If anyone has any thoughts about what i could also use for either foliage or stones etc. it would be great!!

For those who didn't see past threads, the basic idea is set in Normandy.A small convoy of German soldiers are passing through while two old people look on.The top section is a Kancali street corner, with a ceramic clock tower.I will leave the clock tower damage free as i feel that many dio's always depict damaged buildings.Currently making a fence to put on top front of dio,by grass section.
Below there is a beaten path where some G.I's will be quietly sneaking about, trying to get ahead of the Germans for an ambush.
This is my first serious attempt at a dio and i am really having fun watching it all come together.Quinten, thnx for the ideas of places to shop here in Belgium!
Check out the link for progress from the start!!The figures and tank are only to get a feel of the size of the dio.
Cheers,Shay
