Hi Karl,
I'm working on this very kit at the moment, and I'm very pleased with it. Good fit, nice casting structure on the transmission cover and turret.
I've built quite a few Shermies, but in my opinion this is one of the best Sherman kits i know...
Enjoy your build, John.

I'm building an M4a1 sherman from Italeri right now. The kits been an absolute joy to build and I'm tempted to get another just to make a superdetailed model with the full PE works.
I used poly cement to get my cast look on the hull and it's turned out ok. I don't think you need to go buying specialist stuff !!

Karl,
I've used MR Surfacer 500 for the side panels of the upper hull, and it turned out nice. It is just a very subtle casting structure, but far better than the smoothe plastic.
I've been to a museum nearby, and the casting effect on the hull is quite smoothe, compared to the transmission cover and the turret.
HTH, John.
Ps. If you have more Q's...just shoot!

well after have build a couple of shermans i would love to try the new dragon sherman. Hm casture on the turret and and the transmission cover is a right thing to do.. but i am 98% sure on that the hull is not to be textured with mr surfacer.. but i am only a newbie shermieholic..

Hello, My name is Frank and Im a Shemaholic too. I am sure that you would not see the rough cast type texture on the upper hull of the welded M4 Mediums. Any cast hull M4 would have it. I too am doing a BOB M4A3 76mm wet. Dragons kit. I think that it is a fine kit out of the box. I am also nearly finished with the Dragon M4A3E8 Albin F. Irzak kit. I am sad to say that the suspension bogies are the kits major weekness. As for the rest DML added that delicious 76mm turrett from the BOB kit in all its cast glory and some other juicy parts as well. We modelers never had it so good! Thanks DML! Now where is that M3 halftrack kit, 1/35th of course.

Em, sorry, confused here.
To a Brit (with any knowledge of history) BOB is "Battle Of Britain" Y'know , where the Luftwaffe tried to wipe the RAF off the face of the earth... And a good part of Britiain with it. They failed.
You obviously have something different in mind, could you explain what BOB is to you please?

Ive read on these forums somewhere that the Dragon BOB sherman had some inaccuracies when fitting the upper hull with the lower one. I cant seem to find the thread anymore but those members who did it could probably comment more about this.

Also there seems to be some issues with fitting the track between the inner and outer drive sprocket. You need to test fit it before gluing the spockets together

Does AFV or somebody offer a vinyl track for this kit?
I plan to use the indy links but be nice to know of another option.
Are the tracks the T-48 type?

@ Jeremy,
I've read those threads too, but my upper hull fits like a glove, No probs what-so-ever!
@ Alan,
I didn't had problems with the tracks either. Guess I'm a lucky B@#%@#D.... :-)
Now I do have a little question for you guyz:
Which color should I paint the stars on the hull and turret? Plain white seems to be a bit too bright, should I use XF-55 Deck tan, and light that up with dilluted white? Or are there other opinions??
Greetz, John.

Hi- my policy for turret etc stars is to go with white and then in the course of weathering the whiteness naturally gets toned down.
I don't have the kit in question but would have thought that there would be decals included- these are generally ok and weather well.

Hi MC,
Of corse there are decals with the kit, but I find it much more convincing to airbrush the stars and the other vehicle markings on.
Guess I had some oxygen shortage when I was born...

good pm,
same vehicle but different subject-Military Modelling 14 Oct-4 Nov. 2005 has a article on the M4 applique.
5 pages pertaining to "the official specifications for additional armour(armor) plates on US Sherman tanks".
nothing fancy about the information-straight to the point-photos and drawings.
cheers
