Hello to everyone,

I just finished a new building for my ongoing Mega-project about the siege of the Clervaux-Castle on Dec17 1944.
Here is the thread explaining the dio and the first buildings
https://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/58286&page=1

First the photos , than some words about it.

It is a double house, a Café (with a Luxembourg name ) and a normal row house.
The building is made of wood sprinkles with sand.It took me two months to make. The curtains are home-made as all the windows and doors. The drain-pipe (sp??) is still to paint and i will ad a Luxembourg-Flag over the door of the right side (symbolyzing a patriotic citizens house, as he as also a picture of the Grand-Duchesse in his window).
The Café is fully decorated also
The roof is of individually laid pieces of Evergreen. This roof learned me to plan better ahead the next time. I thought that it would not be as big a project than the Hotel's roof, so , because it would look even better, downsized the ind. slates a bit more ( 8*3,5 mm visible).
I can tell you, after the first rows i saw what i did. It ended with 3 weeks work to lay 5000 ind. slates ! That's what i call miscalculation !
But i hope it turnes alright.

Please don't hesitate to ask more details (i may only answer tomorrow as it is nearly bedtime here)

Cheers

Claude

Hi Claude,

Would you like to come and live in my house? You don't have to pay rent, just build me one of those buildings once in a while.... The rendering and weathering of that cafe is astonishing... excuse me whilst I go and clean the drool of my keyboard.. :-) :-) .
The roof may have been a tedious job, but the result is well worth it.

I'll just be quiet now, and drool a little bit more. Please hurry and show us more.. more... :-) .

Cheers

My God, that's bloody amazing. If I didn't know better, I'd think I was looking out of my apartment window back in Boppard, Germany. There was a 'pension' across the square that was almost exactly like that. Right down to the colour. Outstanding work, Claude!

Fantastic job. Very well done. I'm working on a longer project myself, and are building houses for the dio. But they are not as good as yours. Impressive. Most impressive.

Good job

Claude,

Great work so far! I am truly impressed by your ambition and certainly inspiring to all of us. Thank you for sharing. I would love to see more of "in - progress" photo's of this work. It would be of great interest for many of us to see some of the work as it is built up. You say the Cafe is fully detailed, would love to see it! Are you detailing any more of the interiors? Keep up the great work my friend, it is awesome!

Thank you for this critics (hardly a critic must i say ). It's really a motivation to continue this project.
Here are some in progress pics. I made them a little smaller,
Keep in mind , while i decorate some of the rooms, it is specially for the purpose of having an adequate background, if , later on, i will take photos of advancing Germans through the streets of the town. Than you can see some of the decorationthrough the windows. So i think in this case all to detailed work is not needed.
the pieces of wood put together and the window decoration (Evergreen strips ) glued on

Primed and beginning to ad the sifted earth

Interior of the Café. Remember that you will never be able yourself to sit in front of this house to look for the interior, as the nearest you will be able to see the house in the completed dio is about 1 Meter distance.

Preparing the roof.

Just do it !!

Hope this helps
Thank you again

Claude -

Simply outstanding! The details and features look so beautifully done and convincing that I expect to see someone walk out the door at any moment. Very much appreciate the progress photos, these are most definitely helpful and very inspirational. Thanks for sharing,

Claude,

Quite an amazing piece of work and I look forward to seeing this completed. Although it may have been tedious the roof looks excellent and the weathering is of the buildings are superb, great texture on the café.

Cheers

Looks so real!
Are you doing this for a special purpose ie museum or just for fun?
In any case it is really nice to watch, thanks!

Good evening to all of you

Nicoropi, of course it's just out of fun.
Do you really think that this is worth a museum? Guys, you are so nice to me, it's allmost unbelievable.
But you know, one can always dream. (As an Ex- Triathlet i dreamed a lot of wins on the Hawaian Ironman), so why not dream here about a world tour with my dio and a later permanent expo in the Clervaux-Castle itself.
(Please read my first thread about this project, where i write some details about the castle, beautifuly restored and home of the "World Heritage" photo exposition of the American and Luxembourg-born photograf Edward Steichen.)

One great advantage some of the European WW2 modelers have over our friends all over the world, is that we eventually can make a piece of local history with our modelling, what certainly ads to the motivation. (The city of Clervaux is 60 km from me away).

Cheers

Claude
