Hi everyone, for christmas im thinking of purchasing dragons firefly kit and turn it into a canadian one. Now i found a set of decals that would be apropriate. But how could i convert the firefly to a simple sherman V

i see a few differnces liek the barell and the front fenders not being the same from a few pictures in a book, but i ask you experts.

Also, does the dragon kit include a metal barell?

Thanks to all

It's a little bit more difficult to find but Dragon has a Sherman V, the M4A4 non-Firefly version.

The Firefly kit does not have a metal barrel. If you want to build a Sherman V, Formations makes an excellent resin conversion for the firefly kit for $50. just click the link here http://www.formationsmodels.com/780772.html

I have been looking to do the same thing also. But with a new baby coming I can't imagine SWMBO being all that impressed!

So its just the Firefly kit for me so far.

Francois...what decals are you planning on using??

Funny you mention this because I just ordered that conversion and some other stuff with the plans being to make a Canadian M4A4. However I think there are Canadian decals in the Firefly kit so you can do a Canuk Firefly without spending additional money. If not you can get some for a reasonable price from Quartermasters Depot. If you still want to do a Canadian M4A4 try and find one of the Dragon kits they are still available I think.

There are a few options as mentioned above. Dragon did two M4A4 Sherman V, one with and one without rockets. They should be easy enough to find on eBay or at local shows.

As far as i know and please correct me if im wrong, but if you are talking about the the Dragons Firefly and not the Formations conversion ,the dragon kit only comes with 2 sets of markings one for the 13/18th Royal Hussars, 27th Armoured Brigade and the other 4th County of London Yeomanry.

I have this kit but as its a xmas present my gf will only let me peek in the box

But anyway its a moot point because as you pointed out you have allready found alternative decals

My mistake I thought one of the Dragon Firefly kits did come with Canadian decals as an option.

I have decals for my M4A4 which I bought from Quartermasters so I am all set. Eduard makes a decent replacement barrel for the Firefly btw if you are going that route and do not want to fuss with the seam on the plastic barrel.

The biggest problem i have is availability, because i am only aloud to order c.o.d, the only method my moms lets me use. but wouldnt changing the turrett on the firefly Vc and the barrell of course and maybe a set of pe be good enought? looking at my pictures i dont see much of a difference besides the turet and barel

Here's a pic of the M4A4 75mm I built I used a resin turret However I think the Tamiya M4 turret should work
