Try any of Maquette AFV kits, need some fixes, putty, sanding but can be turned out in nice model kits

Italeri's Sherman M4a1 76(w)
http://www.modelsforsale.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=55035
it's a fantastic kit, it only costs 9 quid and there's plenty to do to put it right. I enjoyed every minute of the build, I textured the hull to cast texture, blended the pistol port in.
There's plenty of fixes, go look on usarmymodels, they have a full list.
I recommend this kit !

Try any Panzershop so-called multimedia kits. A huge quantity of parts (resin, photoetch, tubing, string ...) with instructions on a CD-ROM.
Have fun as I had with my VT-72B (see the features section)

Try looking on ebay - there are often plenty of kits going comparatively cheap on there. If you don't have a bank account or credit card you can often pay with postal orders if you buy from a seller in the UK. Watch out that you don't bid on something that looks cheap but is being sold from the far east - the postage costs will make that "cheap" kit a lot more expensive!

I concur. The old Italeri Sherman is a kit that, if you go completely nuts on it, can take a good long time to build and it will reward that time with a stunning model. Some putty and some strip metal shim stock are all you really need to get a better model than what comes in the box, but a simple Sherman PE set (not necessarily the Aber or Eduard sets, but an old On The Mark set would be perfect) and the suspension units and track stripped off another Sherman kit and you have a real winner.
It's usually available at a low enough price to allow you to spend a couple bucks on a few upgrades without breaking the bank. Give it a go.

You could always try one of the new Dragon 3-1 Intial Tigers. I got one on ebay for dirt cheap?
