Hello guys, in a previous messaje I make and answer with last photo incorrect. I´m sorry. I correct it . This is the good answer:
about cork I use this metod:
cut strips of two mm. cork
cut in bits around 6mm
make a cardboard structure
glue the bits in this structure

Georges yes cork is the same that is used in wine bottles
Jeremy, yes these putty is spackle this paste that is used for little reparations in the walls before paint it.

Do you know of any other place to get cork from besides wine bottles? It looks like you used sheets of cork. Did you just unroll and flatten the cork stopper or can you buy cork in sheets?

A good source for cork if you can't get to a craft store is your local DIY / hardware store. You can by packs of cork tiles (used for bathrom floors etc) very cheaply (£10). They are a handy size (30cm x 30cm) and normally come in packs of 10 or 12.
