I know this question has probably been posted several times, but I need help. I am trying to build a simple farmhouse or barn. It will be one of the key pieces of a diorama I am building with a wounded paratrooper. He will have gone through the roof and is now getting a ride (with the help of another paratrooper) from a passing tank.
The problem I am having is figuring out the correct size for the house. I know that houses can basically be any size you want, but what is the normal size of a rural farmhouse in France or any part of Europe actually. I would like to keep the diorama as compact as possible so I do not have to fill alot of dead space with stuff.
Has anyone built a small building like this or purchased one and can give me some measurements? Also what are measurements for doors and such in Europe. I know houses are framed different in Europe than they are in the States. Any help I can get would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Ryan

Hello Ryan,
This is definitely what you need
That is a typical farmhouse in Eastern France, West Germany . Belgium and Luxembourg.
The pictures proposed by Andreas are not really suited for you i think, as they so typical farmhouses of Northern German (and Europe) and a Mountain farmhouse.
For the correct size you only need 2 dimensions to work from and you can calculate the rest.
The first is the standard height of doors. At least actually they are exactly 2 meters and 90cm or 1meter wide. Older farmhouses may have only 80cm wide entry doors and eventually 10 cm less height
The standard room height is 2,50 meters.
From there on you can do the rest, as the dimensions of the windows can vary from 1 Meter and smaller.
Hope this helps
Claude
