Hi Guys, I'm almost done painting Academy's M3A1 Stuart, I'm using the decals for US Arny,3rd Platoon, C company, 1st Armored Battlation,1st Armored Division, Tunisia,December 1942.

Will be using a couple of Dragon's US Tank Crew 39-45 series, not sure which as the Half figures seem more for use on the Sherman.

Anyway I would prefer to depict a "Town" scene, perhaps a short lenght of wooden fence and a tree with low static grass along a dusty "road" on a small 6" by 4" diorama..

What do you guys think? Any suggestions to make such a small diorama more interesting?

Hi Nick:
Given the combination of both dry and wet conditions in Tunisia, I think a stone fence would be more feasible than a wooden one. Low static grass seems more appropriate for wetter climates but check photos for sure.

The figures should be fine: it was very cold at night so jackets and warm clothes wouldn't be out of place.

Nick,

Do you actually want a diorama or just a scenic base?

For a diorama, a slightly larger base might allow you to effectively show the Stuart with the crew stopped for water or buying fruit froma child or the like. The story is small, but nonetheless interesting and topical. If you increased the base to, say, 8" x 10" then you could have the Stuart hung up by a mule resolutely _not_ pulling a cart over a bridge.

If all you want is a scenic base, a section of road and wall with a little scrub bush would do nicely.

Sorry for the late reply.

I think I'll go for a small scene, a section of road, large brick wall and scrubs. I may like to also depict "buying some fruits" from a kid, but not sure where I'd get appropreiate figure???
