Can anyone suggest a good reference for ARVN Vehicle markings?

I'm specifically looking for markings that would have been used on an ARVN M41 Walker Bulldog, but I'm interested in other vehicles as well.

I've tried the Google thing with no success.

TIA,

One source would be Squadron's Armor in Vietnam. It appears to be out of print, but there are several on E-bay right now.

BTW, welcome to Armorama.

good am,
maybe this will help-check out the following;
3w.gruntonline.com and if that isn't enough do a search on 3w.yahoo.com using "arvn vehicle markings".
cheers

Welcome to Armorama, the famous website for modelling!

For the ARVN M-41 "Walker Bulldog" Markings:

TG = Thiet Giap = Armor in vietnamese
LD2 = 2nd Armor Regiment

In the AFV Club 1:35 M-41 kit, there is a decal set for the ARVN Bulldog.

Hi Al,

The Squadron's Armor in Vietnam book is still on sale at the Squadron Webshop but classified as Books Air so when you search for Books Military, you can not see it.

Thanks for all the help!

I'm pretty sure I have Armor in Vietnam, it's just packed away somewhere (I just moved, and 99% of my hobby stuff is still in storage. It just so happens that one of the few things that IS unpacked is the M41's...

Not that it will do you any good, but Glencoe's reissue of the old ITC M41 Bulldog has a beautiful decal sheet with markings for all imaginable nations. The main problem is that the kit is 1/15 scale and OOP.

Actually, I just found out about the Glencoe kit myself. I talked to my local hobby shop, and they are going to try to put me in touch with the guy who bought one.

Hopefully, he'll let me see the decal set, and I can then make my own, to the right scale...

If not, there are two available on EvilBay....

HTH,

I found an M41 in storage here at Knox with almost identical markings.

Concord Publications has a book, "Armor of the Vietnam War #2 Asian Forces" with profiles of several ARVN vehicles (and PAVN vehicles as well). I just ordered a copy a few days ago from Kit Link. It was only twelve dollars, not including shipping.
