Just picked up an Academy M8 Dozer blade at a LMS today for £1.99,
Art work shows it on an M60A1 Rise. I presume it was it used on other vehicles. Anyone got any information on this piece of equipment, was it used on any IDF or IOF vehicles.

M9 Dozer blade was used on M48 and M60 series vehicles. Also used on M728 CEV. It was/is not fitted to the M1. M1 uses the M1 Mine Plow and Mine Rollers. Recently, some USMC M1s have been fitted with the British Pearson Dozer Blade in Iraq. The blade is a good asset that the US has not had/used since the M60A3 tanks and retirement of the M728 CEV shortly after ODS.
Israel does use the M9 Blade on their M60 series tanks. Don't believe any have been fitted to Merkavas though.

Blades on the M60A3 rarely worked. The hydraulic lines traveled below the hull along the road wheel arms. About the only thing it was good for is to make the company XOs a prime target and it probably would have absorbed the first HEAT round fired at the tank.
The CEV used a different hydraulic system, the M48 used the M8 dozer blade.
Definitely not an asset.

Hi Cookie
The Academy M9 Blade is not complete, The one I have does not have the rear left sponson mounted tank which accuates the Blade or the piping running under the vehicle. I have the manual somewhere and will post if I can find it.

Actually, the M9 was tested on the Abrams but it was never fielded because they wanted one that made better use of the M1's low profile.
There is a pic of it in the old Squadron/Signal Publications, Armor Number 26, M1 Abrams in Action on page 45

It will take a while to find those, since websites and pages may not be there or moved or whatever.
