Hi All
I'm planning on creating a diorama based off the action the 101st saw in Nuenen. I figured it was a good excuse to use my Cromwell and mix in some Paratroopers. I've attempted searching the internet for info on Nuenen but to no avail. The information I am trying to gather is any photos of the town from that period of September-October 1944. Do any of the experts here happen to have some resources/photos they would be willing to share?

Mark,
I am very greatful for your posting my topic in another forum. You defenitely did not have to do that and can not thank you enough. Yes, those screenshots are from Call of Duty....I figured, however, that the movie and game might not be exactly as the town was and that it would not be as good as a resource but theres no harm in trying.
Thanks again!
Matt

Hi Matthew,
Read Mark's post on the Dutch forum.
Nuenen is very near to my town and I'll scan some pictures from a book I have about the liberation of Eindhoven and Market Garden tonight.
Hope they will help. I'm back in a few hours...

Hi, I'm back as promised.
First a few interesting websites about the liberation of the southern Netherlands:
http://www.rememberseptember44.com/rs44.htm
And: http://www.wingsofliberation.nl/
Also, a very nice site is: http://members.chello.nl/~p.vandewal/index2engels.htm (press for pictures on 'Liberation' on the left)
Now, some info about Nuenen:
Band of Brothers is not very acurate about Nuenen and the mentioned games are absolute hilarius!!!!
In real Nuenen there were only 2 farmhouses damaged during the fighting, on the game pics look like the whole of the village is bombed out...
Also, the real fight took place above Nuenen, towards Nederwetten, Breugel and Son. (see map below)
As far as I can find there were no Cromwells used in the actual fighting against the 107th Panzergruppe in this area.
The Germans were up against Sherman tanks there.
However, the Cromwells did fight in Eindhoven and other places very nearby, but not in the Nuenen area itself.
If you want a dio with a Cromwell and the 101 you bether "locate" somewere in Eindhoven, Son or Veghel. And there you can find tons of pictures from.
Well, some Nuenen pics:
And, just for fun:
Hope it was of any help...
