Hey all. Have been sans computer for a couple of weeks...
Here are some pics of the progress on my dio, which features a M4 which has cut across a soaked field but has sunk down en route. It is in a slight furrow ie. low ground...
The pics thus far struggle to show the angle the tank has sunk at, but hope to take better shots soon. The dio will hope to feature the crew unloading the tow cable, in preparation for a tow out of the dilemma. Wanted to make it look as though the grass immediately surrounding the tank has been trampled by the crew and the moisture is coming through. Maybe a GI or two will also feature, but I don't really want it overrun with figures.
Please offer any thoughts or ideas or critiques!
Cheers, Brad

OH, forgot to add that this is just a 'stunt' tank and is fully removable. Any M4 will fit the 'hole' snugly, but am looking to use a M4a1 early.

Nice job Bradley

How did you achieve the wet look on the mud ???
it looks nice and sticky exactly what i imagine would bog down a tank.

I take it as the tracks arnt fitted yet , your Sherman is just placed at the moment for the pics so do you intend to add more mud on the hull ???

Thanks

ian

Hey Ian
the 'wet' look is nothing more than Humbrol #1 straight out of the tin, smeared over and in the grass and mud (Mud was added with a raw umber coloured waterbased paint mixed with PVA glue, then smeared on with my finger to flatten the grassed areas that have had traffic... )
You may not have caught my little Post Script wedged between the 2d and 3d pics. The tank is to be replaced, and therefore more mud certainly will be added
cheers
Brad

Nice small area diorama. The groundwork is very representative of mud and gunk.
Small suggestion - add 'thrown' mud to the grass in the front left. Just bits of wet brown goo. Not much subtle is the key. Just to blend the visual of the brown and green together.
If you are going to have your final tank in the same position with respect to the barrel you may consider adding a bit of mud around the outter end. Show where the crew had to walk out and around the barrrel.

On the final tank make sure you have mud - lots of mud. I saw a History Channel show on an M1 in mud and it threw goo Everywhere.
