Henk,

Nice review. ive seen these in Gee Gee models and The Model Centre in Nottingham so they must have a UK distributor.

Hi Joe,

On their website they do not list a U.K. distributor, but then again I don't know how often they update that list.

Cheers

Not sure then mate,

i know the model centre (recently renamed 'modelzone') do mail order, so might be worth a try if anyone wants to get hold of them

Nice review Henk.
I have been looking at Miniart buildings for some time, but haven't bought any, since I, until now, have had no idea how good/bad they were.
I'm gonna give it a try.

Miniart can be bought at Hannant's.

Good review Henk. If you check out my review for their Ukranian building, you will see it was quite positive as well.
Then see my in progress report on another MiniArt thread. I have heard though, that the later kits were much better and less work was needed.
They are possible to build, and with inner detail, accessories and the price, Id still recommend them. Just reporting on the other side of the story so nobody gets a shock!!!!

Hi Frank,, I've read your article, and your right, they need a lot of work. But that's vac-form... The kit I have does not have the problems of 'paperthin plastic', apart from one floorbeam. But it's not a prominent piece and will only need painting.
I've started on the walls, and the front wall seems to be an almost perfect fit. I have not yet sanded the edges down, but everything lines up o.k. The window frames fit snugly aswel. So it does seem that the quality has improved.
Inccidentaly I have started to put together the Panzer IV crew, and I'm less impressed with the fit of those figures... . But that's for another review.. .

Cheers

Nice review Henk, thanks for sharing. I've build the same kit some time ago and I'm just dissapointed with that. I used so much putty and sand paper. It was almost impossible to get the pieces together. Very much time consuming project indeed. I prefer to build my own using plaster, cork or any other stuff. The street and window accesories are just fine to use in other projects and ther are available in a separate kit also.
I think you've rated this product more then it deserves. But maybe you've enjoyed more then me while building it.

To be brutally honest, the thought of working in vac-form fills me with unmiigated horror. I've been there done that in aviation kits in both 1/32nd and 1/48th scale. Although buildings don't have the same 'scale-tolerance' as aviation kits, the thought of all that sanding....

That said, the company producing items such as building frames etc. in injection-molded plastic, is long overdue. The prices of the resin sets are frankly too high...Jim

Thanks Wampum.

i'm sorry that you didn't get on with the kit you had, but as mentioned by Frank ( Plasticbottle), there was a problem with some (earlier ) kit's but the quality and fit seems to have improved. My opinion and rating is based on the kit I bought, which a quick examination seems to show as a kit which will fit well, subject to the usual vac'form limitations/difficulties. I have trimmed both sides of the front wall and a dryfit has shown me that everything lines up. I'll be adding plastic strip to aid location, but I really don't think I'm going to need a lot of filler.
That's why I added the warning at the start of my review, that this is not a kit for beginners. It should be mentioned on the box really that the walls are vac-form rather than ordinairy plastic on sprue.

As for the high rating, this was based on the apperant quality of the moldings, the subject matter itself and the inclusion of all that's needed to build a complete ruin. I feel that this kit will build into a very good ruin of a German Village House. For £ 11. Our American Brothers can get them even cheaper.. Compare this with the quite frankly appaling attitude some resin manufacturers display, offering non-descript 'wallls' with holes for windows, at silly prices.

Cheers

From this point of view you are very right
I had an old kit I guess. I bought it almost 2,5 years ago and with only 6 or 7 dollars from Romania. So I agree that I must not complain too much about this kit.
