just looking for some info on M4A3 VVSS shermans.
i have started building my dragon BOB shermie and i want to do the 714th Bn 12 Armored div tank number 711 with olive drab and black camo.but is the camo black or a very dark green.
if i could fined a good site which has some colour plates or info that will be a great help.

Usually it was a black camo I will look in my Sherman books over the weekend One may have a color plate of the one you are looking for

As a general rule, if you see a dark camo on a Sherman in NWE, then it's probably black over OD. There wasn't a pattern directive. Generally about 1/3 to 1/2 of the surface was covered in wide swaths. This would have been done at the battalion level (not the tank crews themselves). Use your artistic eye. Get some photos of similar tanks and you'll get the feel for the Black over OD.
