hi everyone.
....got myself the italeri DUKW with 105mm howitzer couple of weeks ago. now, i've been thinking on 'AM-ing' the DUKW, especially the engine compartment and the cargo it carried.... soooo my questions are:

1. i found out that CMK makes a resin engine for it. is the CMK kit any good?
2. besides CMK, does other manafacturer make the DUKW engine?
3. any suggestions on what to use as cargo?
4. does anyone make the crew figures? or perhaps army mechanics figs?

... any useful web links on the DUKW will be nice too...

BTW i searched the site for DUKW pics and Henk's and Liberator's models are quite very good... what AM sets did you guys use?

thanks in advance...

Eduard makes a PE set for this kit (DUKW only) and it is good.

Verlinden do a very good engine set, this also includes the tarp hoops and other bits and pieces. Azimut do a brilliant cargo load, I have no idea whether or not this would fit along with the Howitzer though.

Warriors are coming soon with a USMC crew for the DUKW (WA35590). See the link by Bill Chilstrom on Missing Links . As far as I know they are the first dedicated duck drivers.

Cheers moJimbo, glad you like my DUKW. I didn't use any AM products, as I wanted to build this one OOB with just bits I have laying around. No good having a spares box if you don't use it once in a while... .
I did use the MG skatering from the Tamiya Truck update kit, but the rest is jerrycans from an old Italeri kit, barrels from the spares kit, and what the filmindustrie would call 'clever use of props..'. Covers are made with tissue.
If you want, you can get a set of wheels from Mig Productions, which have must nicer detail and which are a touch larger. For the rivet counters under us, the Italeri wheels apparently scale out a touch to small... . As far as I'm concerned, the are round and have tread..good enough... :-) .

Cheers
