I just recently purchased the Dragon Gen2 Desperate Defence figure set. In the instructions it lists the Model Master enamel paints to be used. I want to use acrylic paints but I need to know where is a good place to purchase them where I can buy with paypal. Also I was wondering if these paints are good for brushing.
Thanks,
Blake

I just started experimenting with the Model Master acrylics. Cantcomment on the brushing, but their directions say little or no thinning needed for airbrushing. Well they mean it. Dont thin the pain down then try to spray it, I learned the hard way.

MM is great. You can airbrush them straight from the bottle, and they brush very well, might take two coats though.

MM acrylics are great for airbrushing cause they are so thin. They brush ok, but as one post did say, you will need 2 coats

Would tamiya acrylics be better for brushing?

In my opinion -no. If you want to work with acrylics (and what sensible person wouldn't ), I would suggest Vallejo . - http://www.acrylicosvallejo.com/ ..Jim

That seems to cover it pretty well, although to that I would add the following:820 - Off-White - if you are using any of the parkas reversed. White is far too stark for white uniform color (shade it with white and a pale blue)...Jim

I agree that the Vallejo paints are great for brush painting, they also do a small airbrush paint line.
The one drawback to Vallejo in my opinion, is that they have a limited reference to RLM, RAF, etc colours. If you are used to MM or Tamiya paints, the colours don't match. If you want a specific colour you probably will have to mix it.

If you go to Vallejo's 'equivalent' chart, you'll see that the Model-Air colors are (where apropriate) matched into RLM and FS numbers - with a good selection of colors. What do you mean by RAF colors? The British equivalent to FS. or RLM was BS. If you really want to get a good range of color matches, the trick is to mix n'match with other companies' paints. For example the Xtra-Acrylics range has an incredible amount of possibilities, linked into FS, BS and RLM..Jim
Correction - having gone back and looked at the chart they DON'T do any colors specfically matched to British Standard (BS) ...Jim

If you are going to brush on MM Acryl plan on two coats after a primer coat. I gave up on Tammy paint years ago. Trying to brush it on is like trying to paint with oatmeal. After the second stoke the stuff started trying, unless you thin the heck out of it.
