Here's my latest dio everyone...
I've used Italeri's Demag w/Flak, Verlinden's Farmyard kit, Dragon figures. The dead tree is from The Sentry Box store (similar to Games Workshop), accessories mostly from Italeri's Field Tool Shop set. The groundwork is Earth coloured tile grout, mixed in ballast, and oregano leaves for well, leaves :-) The figures didn't turn out as much as I liked this time round, the faces ended up with too much five o'clock shadow.
Cheers,
Kelly

That looks good Kelly. I'd have mucked the vehicle up a little more, but that's a matter of choice.

Very nice. Could you give me the measurement for your farmyard. I am trying to scratchbuild one and can't seem to get the measurements right.
Again nice work.

i love it, too - it has so much detail, even moss on the roof! I hate to even offer up any suggestions - but i would have put a little more dead grass in the scene since the leaves on the roof are indicating autumn - but i do love it.

Thanks for the comments guys...
Dave I acutally caked the vehicle in Mig Pigments Europe dust, but as I was trying to blow off the loose bits of the ground work, alot of it came off I'm going to try experimenting with some gel medium to add more of a muddy appearence.
Ryan, not sure about the measurements (I'm at work here) but it's roughly about a foot long, and 5 inches wide at the widest point, and about 5 inches high..hope this helps a bit!
GI, yes, I should have put some dead grass here and there, but I only had one colour of the grass, I suppose I could go and paint some a straw colour, thanks for the suggestion!

Looks very nice!! I would I can build that!
Well my eyes spotted it but I have one little nithpick.... Sorry!!
The cable on the front of the vehicle does not have my ... well satisfaction.
It does not look right to me. They would hang down.
Still a dio to be proud of!!!!

Y'know Hilbert, you're right, looking at it now, the cable could use a little more sag (I just used the kit supplied one) Again, thanks for the comments/suggestions!

Maybe its just me, but the figures look really dark, almost black (African american) Might just be the lighting though. I like the layout. Thanks for sharing. "Q"

Hi Red,
You're right on both counts, not my best effort on the faces, they did turn out a little dark, but the lighting was a big factor too, the pics made them really dark, (no fault of Bugsy who took the pics), trust me, they are really quite lighter on the real thing!

Found another pic I wanted to post, the back was a little blah, so I added a rusted out air compressor, and scratched a little wood shed lean to to the back of the building, the roof was made from the packaging you get in bags of cookies, and the logs were made from branches from the back yard...

Kelly -
Greetings to a BC neighbor from just south of you in Seattle area. The diorama is outstanding! So much detail, but not overcrowded and everything fits so well into the overall theme. There's so much great stuff going on there. You mentioned the back area as being "a little blah". I really like what you've added, but maybe a "snoozing" German leaning up against the wood pile or cleaning a weapon, or even just another animal running around would add just a little extra there? That's really stretching it to find something for feedback as this great piece really doesn' need anything but a prominent place for others to see and enjoy it. Thanks for sharing,

Thanks Mary and Blade! (Hello from the north! LOL)
I really wanted to get as much into this one as I could, what really inspired me was the picture on the box for the building. I still want to add some more stuff to it, I had to order Tamiya's farm animals from our LHS, but they still haven't come in yet, SAS donated the chickens, but I'd like to have the pig or something in there. The idea of a solider in the back is a good one, I'll revisit for sure! Almost wish I had one guy in a pose, answering the call of nature hahahaha

Your diorama has "inspired" me and since I have the day off, I've been going through my figures "stash" to plan out the rest of my own diorama project. While going through my figures, I found a couple that might work for that back area of yours if your interested. I'd be honored to donate them "to the cause". They are great quality Warrior's resin figures; one is running (chasing that pig you mentioned?) and another is seated cleaning rifle. Send me a PM and I'll give you more details on some others I found. You've given me some great ideas to work on for my project. Thanks,
Blade48mrd

Very nice diorama Kelly. I like the details, they are everywhere and very well done. Especially the barrel and the potato baskets are very nice weathered. There is just one problem, as you said, the faces..

Funny, faces are kind of hit and miss for me, especially when I try to do the beard thing...the last time I did it, it worked fine, gotta keep practising! :-)
