Not me. I have way too much 1/35 stuff to switch to another scale. They don't look as detailed or nice to me as well. I'll stay with 1/35.

While 1/48th may be tempting, I am way too far into 1/35th to switch. Besides, I am a cynic, and think that the recent strides into 1/48th may just be a flash in the pan.

I am with the rest of the guys. I have got way too much $$$ invested in 1:35 and 1:72 scales already. Perhaps if I were into airplanes I would consider 1:48 but that is not very likely to happen.

I am with everyone else. I have a bunch of 1/35 I am working on. Besides, I think painting the figures would drive me nuts!! :-)

I may, but only because I have a few models that could really use some sort of base or dio.

I'll start off with I'm a diehard 1:35 scale armour guy or 1:48 airplanes, but, with the pe parts starting to come out now for 1:48 and the detailed kits{and to think we complain about lack of detail on 1:35 scale stuff} the 1:48 could be a winner for those "now" starting out...one can fit more items in a given base in 1:48 scale than one can fit similar items in 1:35 scale. I don't wear my glasses enough as it is, so I'll stick with 1:35...but more power to everyone else!

Sure... If I like a subject that's being offered in 1/48 (or any scale for that matter), I'll do it. (Altho, most of what I've got built and unbuilt is in 1/35.)

I'm a 1/35 type of guy. Maybe if I do a 1/4 scale aircraft, a jeep or Kubel, would fit in, but I see no need for me to change scales.

Nope, will be staying with 1/35. 1/35 is too small as it is! Can't see how they can improve on detail in 1/48 scale?

Very interesting poll here, and some interesting answers as well. I am in the process of painting a 1/48th scale Skybow Tiger 1 to be used in a dio right now. As a person that likes to make large dios I seem to be running out of room very fast. My current 1/35th project is on a base measuring 2' by 3' which could greatly be reduced if i was doing the scene in 1/48th. I'm ready to embrace both scales for future dio plans.
The only thing holding me back as to do more in 1/48th scale is figure choices and building kits from the likes of custom dioramics and others.
I have a lot invested in 1/35th scale as I am sure a lot of you do, but what is the harm in trying out a new scale where the only major investment to be made is in the kit and figure purchases as most scenic materials that can be used in 1/35th scale will surely work in 1/48th except for buildings? I have to say I am very intrigued by this new option that has presented itself to me and am looking forward to using it. Cheers Kevin

Hi all!
I will build dioramas in the future because of the new range of 1/48 kits. I'm an Aircraft builder but bought some Armor kits of the Tamiya range and also alternative resin kits to add a little bit of life in my aircraft world... the lack of figures is a problem though!

I'm guilty... I have a 1/48 in my stash.. Tamiya's Sherman, wanted to give it a try. But that's only 1 out of my 1/35 stash.. I know i'll still stick to 1/35. Without a doubt

I can barely see the 1/35 p.e. parts, if I drop a 1/48th tank hull on the floor I'll never find it !!!

If it weren't for 1/48 I wouldn't be building models and the LHS would not be getting my money. 1/35 is just too big and awkward for my tastes. I was bafled by some of the anti-1/48 scale rants when Tamiya started releasing their kits but now I realize that as a niche market, many of you may not be aware of how much is available ( you can get a Karl Morser) in 1/48 nor have you seen pictures of the interesting dioramas made in this scale because you would need to go to sites specializing in quarterscale. Also, many of you have said that you have too much invested in 1/35 scale to even consider another scale. What you don't hear much about, but we in the 1/48 scale community do, are the modellers who are adopting and adapting to 1/48, including those who are giving up 1/35. From the point of view of pure self-interest, Why deny yourself the pleasure of building a diorama with a SkyBow late war Tiger next to a Citroen 11CV (not available in 1/35)?

So much of building a diorama is the accessories that I would just about have to start over. The actual vehicle would be the easy part. I have bin full of "stuff" to dress up 1/35th scale dios, nothing in 1/48th...

I am interested in the 1/48 scale kits for their smaller size. As Kevin mentioned earlier, space can be a serious issue if you regularly build 1/35 scale dioramas. The one negative I see is the price: almost as much as 1/35 kits. However, I have picked up most of the available Tamiya 48 scale AFV kits from persons selling them on the various modeling websites at significantly less than the retail price and have been impressed with their looks in the box. I have not started any of them, yet. Also, I have a very large stash of 1/35 scale AFV, figure and building kits (just ask SWMBO) yet I don't see that as a reason not to try out some nice models in a different scale.

I'll stick with the old faithfull 1/35, and an occasional 1/16. No interest in the 1/48. As a matter of fact, I'm thinking about not renewing my Military in Scale subscription because almost all of their articles are on 1/48 subjects. It just doesn't interest me at all.

I voted number three, but I really should say I MIGHT do a dio using 1/48. Like many have said I've got far too much invested in 1/35.(If you don't believe me just ask my wife, she'll be GLAD to tell you.) I would consider 1/48 to put into a dio with some aircraft though. At this time I'm more interested in doing a 1/72 dio with both aircraft and vehicles, but 1/48 is a possiblity. I certainly like 1/48 aircraft more than 1/72, but size and cost have to be considered.

I don't seem to jive with the 1/48 scale models, unless it is aircraft, I'm already stuck with 1/35 and have no complaints.

Had the chance to see a 1/48 and was very unimpressed..Tools molded badly on the body made my mind up..never. 1/35 is where Ill stay.
Dave, When you switch to 1/4 scale let me know...I'll buy stock in glue and paint...Dying to see you do a dio though! Makes me think of L&H..March of the Wooden Soldiers.
We really do need a lmao emoticon!
