Yet another of my projects that just needed that last bit to finish... and so I did spend the day doing so. This is the Testors/Italerie Panzer KPFW IB. It is intended to look as if it was in a parade in Berlin in late 1930's (ergo the 'nice' paint job). While I truly enjoy the bigs boys (Tigers and Panthers including the Jagd versions), I find the Panzer Is and IIs fascinating and enjoy building them. Unfortunately, the pictures don't pickup the highlights added via drybrushing. Any insight into how to do so would be most welcome. Also any insight into succesful drybrushing would be welcome.. just not satisfied I am doing it right. Look forward to your comments.

One thing evident is this picture is the rubber on the wheels. The color is rubber yet seems too dark. What do folks use to give the appearance of faded rubber as would be expected after use?

Only significant comment on the build concerns the decals. I had enormous problems with them. In fact the version you see is the 3rd attempt as the previous two broke severely. While the decals set well, they were extremely sensitive to touch.. some even breaking while in the water to soften for transfer.

the best colour for painting road wheels is Tamiyas nato black, when it dryes it looks more grey than black.
one thing i have noticed on some of the wheels is you have gone over a bit much with the black, mostly the right front road wheel.

keep it up.

cheers karl

I use gunship gray on a lot of my 1/72 scale road wheels. It gives a more scale color black. Regular black looks too stark at the smaller scales.

For rubber, I use Floquil or PollyScale grimy black, very dark gray rather than black. The former is enamel and the latter, acrylic and should be available in any train oriented hobby shop.
Nice clean build but a few thoughts.
The paint is very monochromatic. A wash in the recesses and along raised detail with a tough of light drybrushing will give more deptha and visual interest to the model.
The metals look too bright, but maybe it's the flash.
The return rollers should have rubber "tires" as well.

...and yet another option...

PollyScale also makes/made a "Scale Black"... another dark gray and combined with a light black wash and drybrush... presto.

I like that T/I 1B kit... I had a lot of fun doing one a few years ago...

I think you did a good job on your panzer, did you use a flash when taking your pictures because the model seems a bit shiny, i think it may be your lighting.
