Now I am building another KV.This is the KV 1 simplified turret by Trumpeteer.
Once again it wil be OOB.

I will stop when they run out of KV's.
This will be the gun version,It also includes the flame thrower version in the same box.basically that is a mantlet difference.

Hello Carl,
That sure looks like a wonderful kit! You are doing a great job with it. Would love to see it when its done.. I just got a Trumpeter KV-2 and will be starting that soon. Any tips you could pass along as to the construction of the kits??

Best Wishes,
Walter

You could start by looking at the reviews section. There are currently two Trumpeter KV 1 reviews posted, both of the reviews include detailed comments about the construction - see below...Jim

Walter,
as construction goes,it is very quick. There are knockout pin marks on the indy track links, but they are easy to remove.Everything fit,so it is merely a matter of taking your time to let everything dry after gluing.I expect it takes only 10 hours to build one.Watch this build to see how I do it. Hmhmm

These Trumpeters must be nice Carl as you seem to be hooked on them (Plus you placed well with one in a modeling show recently, as I recall). I'd like to give them a try -- but too many unbuilt kits in the stash already without adding any more.

Keep us posted.

Mmmhmm,
I think these kits are great for modeler'sblock. They go together very well, test your basic finishing skills just enough, and in my experiance, are award winners.
Try one! (++) (++)

I glued the support roller hubcaps onto the outer rollers, but leave those on the sprue,to make it easier to paint.
Ditto for the sprocket wheel halves.

Work completed to this point.

Fender prep time. AGAIN!
Trumpeteer KV fenders seem to suffer from knockouts, but they are easy to remove, this is the shape of blade I use to shave the area smooth...

And here is the turret, notice the thicker armor, and different periscope guards.

Looks good so far, Carl. Will you be posting pics of the painted kit soon ?

I have this kit myself, and plan to build it as the KV-8, although I may use the KV-1 M1941 Small Turret kit's turret. Most of the pics I see of the KV-8 have that type turret.

Then I can build this KV-1 M1942 with the 76.2mm ZiS5 gun like you have here

Cheers !!

Well I have nearly finished,I have used a light wash of Hudson and Allen mud,and oversprayed with raw sienna.

Still need to add the lens on the headlight and some gun soot.

Looks great Carl !

Overall finish is good, and not too overdone on the weathering. I really like the rust between thr roadwheels.

All you need now are some decals

Cheers !!
