Friends,

I'm still working on my Cellar shadowbox diorama...progress is, as usual with me, very slow, but.......steady.

For those who don't know what I'm talking about a first picture to freshen up your memories :

The British HQ during operation Market Garden :

The picture above will be put in a shadowbox diorama.

In the above scene also belongs a bunk bed (not visible on the picture). I scratchbuilt this bunk. Hope you like it... I'm sure I do

I really like the bed too, nice idea.

Did you make you mind up about the lighting ?
What will you use?

I'm doing a similar thing right now (castle cellar). I am trying with a candle light ( a liitle bit flickering light) relayed to the candles with fiber optics. The look is very good, but not really bright enough. How are you doing it?

Cheers
Claude

Yup, it's Urquhart. The Cellar is located in the basement of the Hartenstein Hotel, that was the HQ of the 1st British Airborne Division during market garden.

The lighting will be partly indirect. There will be a lightbulb over the main table in the centre of the room, but that'll only produce some glowing... not really light.

The main lightsource comes from the left side, out of sight from the viewer. It will be a light from a christmas tree light string. Low voltage and little heat. The color is a dimmed yellowish one, producing the exact light I want for my pourly lit celler.

Ola Danny

Looks really good this Bunkbed mate.

What I wonder and it is not visible in the pics... Have you added woodgrain to it in this stage? I think it makes painting it much easier. If you have not done it yet run some Sandingpaper over it with a very coarse grit... this would end up in good woodgrain in this scale.... and it is easy to paint.
Are you going to add matrasses to the beds?

I`m going to make a forecast.... the next item you are going to make is the Radiotable..... Looking forward what you are going to make of that.

hehehehe....you're right my friend. Tonight I had an hour to spare and so I sat down and made myself a table for the radio set.

About that woodgrain : Yes all the "wooden parts" have woodgrain at this stage. It's so much harder to do it when the parts are ready.... things can easily break, so I always add the woodgrain before I glue the parts together.

The matrasses will be on the bed in the final diorama, but that's to be don at a later stage.

Right now I'm gonna show you a few pics of the table... it's the table that is in the picture on the far left side...the table with the radio set (19 set) on it.

and the overall scene as it is today :
