Love the 'water talk' its great - fun subject

Here are a couple of feature that cover it
https://armorama.kitmaker.net//features/751
Use the same technique in this feature just with a large area, not a mold
https://armorama.kitmaker.net//features/150

There are other ways and materials - I'm sure guys will post thier techniques and products. Wax, varnish, resin......

Couple of pointers, plan it out, and test it out. You need a basic 'damed' area to contain the 'water' . You pour your water product in multiple thin layers.

Wow - there are so many posts already on this subject on the board, you should easily find several techniques that appeal to you. An excellent resource is the Master Modelling - Terrain book, which one of our reviewers has posted in the REVIEWS section. i have this same book, and got several good ideas that suit a variety of water applications.

Personally, I am a hard core believer in EnviroTex EZ Pour polyester resin, whcih is very inexpensive, easy to use, and creates wonderful effects.... I have about 40 pictures of various water techniques at the following link here in armorama (http://photos.kitmaker.net/showgallery.php/cat/13432)

You can simply click on the "My Photos" button below, and select the "Pacific Landing-Big Water" album for some ideas.

Let me know if you have questions.

In my opinion the question is how deep would you represent. For streams or some cm or inchs i think itīs suitable the use of some kind of resin or water products. But if you want to do something deeper like the sea ithink itīs much better to make the water movement in plaster or similar after painting with oil colours and finally when the paint is near to dry barnhis in samall " touchs" or points . After this first cote of barnish let dry completly and finanny an other general cote op clear barnish

Hi Magee,
I've start building a diorama on D-Day US landing at Omaha beach.
I've the problem to re-create realistic water, waves and foam with resin... so I'm watching other modeller's jobs to take some inspiration.
I've seen your diorama on pacific landing that it's really very good.
Some questions:
1. how did you re-create waves? (resin trends to lay down and to flatten)
2. how did you re-create the white foams? some kind of powder... or what?

please let me know!

Thanks

Tommy

I use a product called Gel Wax - it's for making candles to build up mass and I go back with Realistic water and water effects from Woodland scenics to complete it

Hi Matt, for streams and things I use clear casting resin. Here is an article I did in which I think it describes the making of water with this medium fairly well.

hope it helps. Cheers Kevin
