DML has this kit posted under New Kit News on the Perth Military site. I have never heard of a Panther M10. Can anyone explain to me what this is?

It is a Panther with added plates to give the appearance of an M-10 Tank Destroyer. They were used during the Ardennes Offensive.

I notice that news too... I'm very excited! Like Alex said the tank was used in Ardenne to confuse the Allies.
Accurate Armours offered this kit about 10 years ago for about $100 USD. I almost pick it up... now I'm glad DML offer this interesting tank.
Anyone else have more info on the date of release on this kit?

I wouldn't get too excited Benjamin, the Ersatz Panther has been on Dragons release list for at least a couple of years for sure, and I think longer.

I know DML released nice Panther A Early and Late and I think in 2004 they came out with a G. I just don't understand why they have not done a early and late G or steel wheel in the new kit format of PE and AM barrel etc. It would be nice.

Panther88 -
As "Vadster" pointed out, the "Ersatz" Panther was a "disguised" Panther "G" (not Late) used during Battle of the Bulge;
"In preparations for the Ardennes Offensive, around 10 Ausf Gs were converted to resemble American Gun Motor Carriage M10 tank destroyer. The conversion was done by welding additional metal sheets to the turret and hull along with application of US Army camouflage and markings. Designated Ersatz (Substitute) M10, they all equipped Panzer Brigade 150, commanded by SS-Standartenfuehrer Otto Skorzeny." (Achtung Panzer)
Would love to see Dragon put this kit out, but for now there's only a conversion kit like from CMK Czech Master (CMK 3039) or scratch built.

In the book "Commando" a translated quote from Skorzeny says "The modified Panthers would have only fooled the febble minded, those with poor eye sight, or troops new to the combat arena" :-) :-)
Still, I think it makes for a nice model.

It is much more convincing than the Stug. IV that they painted O.D. with a big white star on the side skirts! :-)
