Panther88 -
Concur with "Ripster", the Tiger II ausfBs with the Porsche turrets had zimmerit. Initial deployment of Tiger IIs was to sPzAbt 503, and even those in Normandy area had zimmerit applied as did earlier versions of Tiger IIs with the Henschel turret.

According to Actungpanzer .com "The first King Tigers produced, from January to September 1944 were coated with Zimmerit anti-magnetic mine paste, except the three prototypes." and "The first 50 King Tigers (including the three prototypes) were equipped with turrets designed by Krupp for Porsche's VK4502(P) - commonly known as Porsche Turrets."

Hi Panther88,
I agree with Frag, take a look at this picture I posted a time ago:
https://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/28171&page=1
It is a porsche prototype without zimmerite, I believe it's actually the third protoype.
Cheers,
Pascal

The photo you linked is a TII from (fkl)316. There were 5 (or 6) of them and they all had Zimm..
Other views of this TII clearly show the Zimm.

D#mn (sorry) I was convinced this was one without zimm, I've seen a model done of this number 11 and it was also without zimm. And now I've already made a dio based on the photo I linked. It was my fist attempt at scratchbuilding, and now I know it's definitely wrong.
Oh well there's always something you don't know..
Thanks for the info mKenny,
Pascal
