Hello all.

I've just recieved Dragon's new Panzer IV Ausf E 3 in 1 kit; I intend to bulid the Afrkia Corps version of the model and I seeking help on what would be the best colour to paint the model in.

From the books i've got the sand camo has a much more 'reddish tint' than the later sand colour used by the German army.

I am intending to use German Grey undercoat and allow it to show through as part of the weathering.

Does Tamyia do a shade that is comparable or would I have to mix my
own?

Any build hints would also be welcomed. Thanks.

According to Tom Jentz, orders were issued on 17 March 1941 that all vehicles to be used in North Africa were to be painted 2/3 gelbbraun RAL8000 and 1/3 graugrun RAL7008. I assume that these colors would be painted over the factory dunkelgrau RAL7021 finish.

I used Vallejo Model Air 030 Panzer Green Brown (2/3)and 024 Khaki Brown (1/3) which were matched to the Testors Model Master enamel colors 2099 and 2098 respectively to paint the Panzer IV F in my Osprey book on modelling the early Panzer IV.

I hope this helps you out.

Regards,

Thanks for the information.

I'll post some images of the build in a while. Dragons kit is a pleasure to build!
