Hi guys,

I'm building Dragon's 1/35 Panther II (no, not the mine clearing thing - I wish they had given that another name..

The hatches for the driver and the gunner are just flat plastic. Are there any links to pictures, so that I can give them some details? I'd like to leave them open for crew figures.

Cheers,
Soren

Sorry for the offtopic, but this thread made me wonder: did the Panther II see any action during the war?

Soren, is the kit any good? What's your opinion?

Thanks,
Martin

No action, only 2 huls were made, one was captured by the americans who fitted a G-turret on it and shipped it to Aberdeen Proving ground - now it resides at Knox.

The fate of the other hull seems to be unknown.

A Schmallturm was found at a british shooting range some years ago..

Hi Martin,

As Jan says below, no Panther II ever saw action. I'm building mine as a 'what if' project and will apply ambush pattern camouflage and some battle damage.

The kit goes together fine but the tracks look difficult (3 parts to each link, I think). Details are fine, except for the above mentioned hatch details.

The only other problem I see is that the turret sits very high on the hull and some surgery will be needed to correct that.

(Hi Jan; Yep - a Dane abroad. Been living here in Ireland for nearly 8 years now and have only recently taken up modelling again after a loooong break).

Hi Jan,

That would be great. How's the detail on them?

You can contact me off-list at [email protected]

Med venlig hilsen,
Søren

No worries. The hatches look simple enough to detail.

Cheers,
Soren
