I'm finishing off another light skin combo. The tractor was modified from a Italeri kit. The trailer it's pulling is a mobile generator kitbashed/scratchbuilt model. I used logical info gathered from the net to get an idea of what one would look like as I had trouble finding descent pics of one. Still needs more weathering, especially on the tires. I also have to clean the paint form on the headlights that I had forgotten to remove before painting. Stupid me. After that, I guess I'll be done. Learning everyday.

So, I hope you all like the pics.

I like it Charles, that scratchbuild trailer looks really good. Nice to see an unusual configuration with the tractor pulling a diddy trailer with a tow hook. Good job on the wires etc, but I'm not sure about all the dangeling chains. I know it looks 'attractive', but in real life those would snag on something pretty quick.
I love your doors, they look like rusty steel. How did you do those?

Cheers

Looks good because you can't find any modren tractor stuff. great detail. I want a modren tank transport. I am going up to PA soon to look around becasue the have some armor up their. But this summer I am going to NTC in Cali and Ft. Benning later in the summer an I will have plenty of picks to try and scratch build the transport I am looking for. If any one is intrested when I get the picks I can post some. Looking July time frame for the first and later in the year around fall for the Benning stuff.

Thanks. As mentioned in the above post I went with several info and pics that gave me an idea of how one would look like. I did a google search that showed some. Just type in mobile generator.
I had seen one military one before that mad eme to build mine butr I can't remember where. It's ashame. I should have saved it.
I'm sure there are folks here that have such info.

I used parts from my misc box of parts . I have alot. I used the frame work from 5 ton Italeri truck and sawed off the extra bracket to bring the height down. I also shorten the length of it. The rest are scrarchbuilt using cardboard, styrene and small parts form my misc box.

Thanks. You were right, the chains will be removed. It was just temporary to add a little spice to the pics. I assumeed you're talking about the one on the tractor, right?

The rusty armor panel is the real thing. hen I mean real, it is a thin piece of metal which I let soaked in Apple cider until it rusted. That's it.

My motor pool has photos of the current generators of various kilowatts. Tactical Quiet Generator photos have been here for several years.

Charles,
Great model! Love the rusty doors.
Should the trailer have a drop down 'leg' at the front to keep the thing level when it's not hooked up to the towing vehicle? sometimes they have a swivelling wheel on the end (so someone can unhitch the trailer and move it around)
I've seen them on the pics in Rob's Motor Pool but can't see them in your pics.

I saw one without any, so I decided not to add one. They used a bunch of blocks or pile of junck or what not under the front end as support.

very nice kit and the weathering..specially the rusty doors. put more rust on the panels and other parts. makes the truck look older and beaten-up. thanks for sharing.

Thanks all. I got the chains from a place that sells parts to make your own jewellery.

There are a few kits out there that are resin that you can make 5 tons into tractors with. They are pretty hard to find. I have an M-54 conversion that came from Real Model and several years ago I did an M123c tractor out of tank works. Is that suppossed to be a US Army truck? As truely wonderful those rusty doors are, if it were in my motor pool, someone would be receiving a Field Grade Article 15.

Spoken like a true garrison soldier. The doors are rusty since they are scrap armor plates scrounged from various resources in order to provide additional small arms protection to the driver. I'd give the maintenance team an accomodation medal for taking the initiative to provide protection to truck crews.

Whaddap, Ti!
I love the truck! Period. Great model, well done.

If I may, can I suggest some photo help? I noticed that your photos are a little dark and it was a bit hard to see the great detail. If you have any sort of photo editing software, lighten up your pics a little. Check it out here.

I can see that you're suprised. I hope I've helped out a little, as you really model well and with a little lightening, we can see just how well ya are!

I'm not Matt, but here are some examples :
M200A1 (tracked chassis) :

M105A2 :

according to the caption, this one is based on a M105A2 chassis ...

All these pics come from here http://www.govliquidation.com/ which is a real goldmine for US Military equipment pictures(especially weathered equipment )

Thanks. I'm trying to educate myself better when it comes to taking pics. I'm still learning. Thanks. I have photoshop, so I'll be doing some practice. Thanks again. A real difference.

Thanks Frenchy for the references. Great job.

To everyone else thanks again.
