Opinions are welcome on which kit would be better, Tamiya KT Ardennes or the DML KT Ardennes? Thank you.

Get the DML kit. It has two frets of PE, turned aluminum barrel, four bonus figures, metal tow cable, ect. Probably cheaper than the Tammy kit, too.

Michal -

I have both the Tamiya "Ardennes" KT (which I've built) and the Dragon "Ardennes" (which is awaiting a build this Winter). The Tamiya is a great kit and a pleasure to build, makes up a really great looking KT (I did it OOB). With all you get with the Dragon kit though, I'd recommend it. The detail, fit, etc. seems every bit as good as the Tamiya and with the better deal, goodies that come with it, you'd be crazy not to go with Dragon.

I can't comment on Tamiya's King Tiger, but I have Dragon's King Tiger Late Production in my stash. For around 30 € you get a model with individual track links, 3 rounds brass ammo, PE parts, alu barrel and four Volksgrenadiers (DML6115).

i doubt Tamiya will be cheaper...

Although,IMHO, there is nothing at all wrong with the Tamiya kit, for quality and accuracy, you would be better choosing the Dragon one simply for all the extra's in the box. It builds into one fine KT out of the box and the only real additions would be engine grills and Fruilmodel tracks, although the individual tacks supplied are fine, i just love Fruil tracks....go for the Dragon, is eadily the best value KT on the market

I have to agree I enjoyed building the Dragon King Tiger especially with all the extras.

Hawkeye, you advised the only things I would really have to add if I wanted was PE engine grills and Fruils. My understanding is all Dragon KT kits come with PE engine grills?

Yes.

Like all other have said DML is a better buy. If you don't have any KT kit, I would suggest get the DML.

Well I guess in thinking about the DML kit would be the best bet. Here at my LHS the Tamiya KT is $59.99, then I have to get PE engine grills, the Tamiya kit as mesh netting for the other vents and I would have to get a alum. barrel and maybe AM tracks too. This could be over $155.00 with taxes when it is all said and done. DML kit I have everything I need in the box and even if I go with Fruils it will only cost me $98.00 with taxes. I can buy another DML kit with the difference. How can Tamiya compete with DML? Sure they are bringing out a new kit late this year Stug III Ausf. B with alum. barrel and PE but the point is what about if you want to build all their old kits, each kit you need to buy PE and AM parts for the details, so I assume the average price of a Tamiya kit with taxes will be $100.00, that IMHO is just unacceptable.
