Well, Here is my try at a hummer. Again I'm still putting the finish touches on so it'll be done soon. Yep, it's an usual build, strange coming from me ,uh

Looks pretty good. One part you should add though is the cross bar, B pillar, that goes between the two door supports that are sticking up. This part is on all HMMWVs and is actually a structural support. The Italeri Special Forces Stinger HMMWV and Academy's M998 cargo HMMWV are the only models that come with this part. It is basically a triangular piece of metal that has two flat ends that attach to the uprights.
You can see the B pillar here.
Looks like you forgot to paint the side mirros too.
To make it look even better, you could get the Pro Art SINCGARS radio set too. The one in there looks good, juts not a currently used one.
Other than that, it looks good. I like the Mk 19 mount, looks good too. Good job.

Thanks. Will see to it immediately. I plan on adding a thin pice of reflective metal film for the mirror. That's why it looks like that. BTW, that is a real hummer in the pic right?

Yup, that is a pic of one undergoing an ASK (Armor Servivability Kit) upgrade. The sand parts are the added armor plates.

It still looks Great to me, and even better with the things that Gino talked about.

Hi Charles,
nice build not that usual in fact.
Two points for me apart from Gino's. You should not scratch the water cans as they are plastic ones, (no black spots).
You could enhance the camo net realism. It presently looks too stiff. Perhaps moistening it with white glue diluted in some water could help.
The Mk19 mounting is excellent as the overall look of your model.

Thanks. I thought the camo netting looked a little stiff. I'll work on that too.

Looks great Charles. How did you do those bottles of water? And what kit is that by the way?

hanks. It's the 1025 kit from Tamiya. The gun support stand was scratchbuilt and as some other parts. The bottles came with a kit I had bought a long time ago. Sorry can't remember.

Those bottles look like they are from one of Academy's M113 variant kits.

I dont think you got enough credit for this build so far.
This is a really great build you have. I like the way you have painted the seats as from certain angles, they look very realistic. you definitely paid alot of attention to detail judging by the rounds painted in the ammo box. The road signs look very good as well.
Excellent photography especially. Mind sharing how you set up the stuff around the dio before taking the photos? ie: lightings etc.
Im currently building the Academy's M966 Tow Missle Humvee and have to say that they still have a long way to go in matching Tamiya's accuracy in assembling their kits.

Thanks for the kind words. The guys here have been helpful with their tips. Funny you should say you like the photography. This is my weaskest point but with tips from the guys here I'm slowly getting there.
Actually I'm using halogen lamps. I'm going to get proper daylight lights as it's tough trying to get the right seffect from these lamps. I used a light blue poster papper as background. The lights tend to absorb more but I'm learning as I go along.

Hey ti,
excellent job on the Hummer, love the Mk19. What did you use for a radio. Could you post a pic of the radio, I'd like to see what and how it looks, I'm doing a Hummer also.

Hey,
Looks good. I concur with the need for the cross bar. I would add that it kinda looks like it came off the washrack....too clean?
The MK19 looks GREAT! I love it.
The cammo on the front doesn't look right; kinda "canned," not like real cammo would look. Too "bought" for lack of a better term.

As I said in the beginning I wasn't compeletly finish with it. I still need to weather it more. Thanks for the comments If I ever do another Hummer I'll try and do a better camo. Maybe just leave it olive green. Still learning.
Joe, I'll try and take another phot of the radio later. Thanks

Great looking model there Charles! I love the Iraq signs. They look very realistic. How did you make them by the way? Very realistic looking base as well. I agree with jeremy though. I think you deserve a lot more credit. Exelent work!!

Thank you, kind words. :-) The iraqi signs where taken off the net from pics of model signs that were for sale. I simply saved the pics to disk, imported them into photoshop and changed the size to fit the scale I needed. So if I wanted a much smaller scale I just go into photoshop again and make the change.
Although I have already made several sizes and saved the format so I don't have to repeat the process. :-)

very nice humvee..a jeep version. i think the structural frame in the middle must be saved. you can mount MG and other stuffs on the frame. nice set-up and pictures!
off topic..can we fold down the windshield of a humvee..like the willys jeep? just curious..thanks for sharing.

Yes, it is hinged and there are pins that can be removed on the back side that allow it to fold down. It is not often done though.

Great looking Humvee there, Charles! The color really pops out! This inspires me to try something similar.
Could you please post some pics of your MK-19 bed mount from gun to base or provide URLs to make this? I wish to copy your mount design. Thanks!

He also said the same thing. I havn't found any in my neck of the woods yet. So the current one will have to do until i come across the one he mentioned. IO put mine together from two kits I had on hand. Don't remember which one though. I think they came from the humvee kits from academy.
