Hi All,
This is my DML Jagdtiger (kit 6050). This is the first non Tamiya kit I have built. The fit and quality isn't what I'm used to but some of the dramas I faced I think will make me a better modeller - I hope.
I'm not sure how old this kit is, but I gather the newer releases from Dragon must be better than this ?
I have used an Aber detail set as well as Aber track guards. There are also some Friuls (gee these are addictive) primed and waiting final weathering.
Not quite sure what camo yet. Any suggestions ?
Cheers
Griffo

Are you going to simulate dents or damage to those fenders/skirts. They actually look good as they are, but since some of the fenders are missing, it suggests damage....just my opinion

When I built my Jagdtiger (Revell's kit) Iw as advised that the pain under where the fenders had been toen off should just be the base dark yellow, and not any oversprayed brown or green, like this:
However, in "Tigers at the Front", there is a series of pics of a Tiger II being painted in the field. The maintenace crew have removed the fenders and the camof continues on the hull to areas that would vbe covered by the fenders. The fenders were then painted with the same scheme, but separately, so the lines of the camo do not match from the fenders to the hull. This seems to be illustrated on other pics from the same book, although it seems to fly in the face of modelling orthodoxy!

Mate i know exactly what you mean when you say this. For armor, ive only just recently decided to try out Academy and already i feel like ive been spoilt by Tamiya with their accuracy. I've resorted to scratch building a little so i hope to improve the same way.
Your Jagdtiger is certainly coming along well. do post more updates when you have them.

Peter,
Nice on the onset. Looks very good and clean. Knowing that this is just the beginning, it looks really good.
As Warthog indicated, some "damage" would be appropriate.
Please keep us posted with this nice one.

Very nice build, I love all that pe! l I'm going with the rest of the tribe here, add some dents and dings to those fenders, it will give that old beast some character once painted. Keep us posted.

OK, OK, I'm sensing a theme here :-)
But.... given that they are attached, how would you suggest I get some damage into the fenders
