Here is my second try at a Hummer, my first...well it was a first sgtsauer posted a photo of a Hummer and I thought I try building it. The shelter was made from Evergreen plastics. I used blue prints that Matt sent me then converted them into 1/35. For the paints, I used Tamiyas NATO colors.

Build photos,

One question, how or whats the best way weathing the hummer.

Joe this is awesome. Seems like you lit a fire under this, getting it done so quickly. Kind of stunning to see this done like that. I definitely suggest a write-up article for this.

BTW, what is the bar on the side for?

That looks fantastic!

I hope model makers know that by releasing a kit of a subject, modelers can take it and do all sorts of wonderful things . Aftermarket companies shouldn't give up either.

Joe,
Looks great. Good job on the shelter. How about some more pics of the completed interior as well.

Brilliant work Joe. I bow down to your masterful scratch skills. Can't wait to see the entire build finished. This is a positive candidate for a build article if I have ever seen one (hint).

superb..i like the camouflage painting..how did you do it? on weathering..dry brush the side panels and other parts of the humvee with tamiya buff acrylic paint. airbrush the tires with buff too. wipe gently the tire threads with rug, works on my humvee. thanks for sharing.

but with the aggressive pattern (resin aftermarkets) you have to approach it differently.

Impressive scratchbuilt job Joe. When I first see your post, I took the first pic for your model

Yours is really stunning. It seems that your doors are solid when the original ones seems to be "soft plastic" ones. Am I correct ?

Congrats

Thanks guys,
It was fun to do, and I got to build something other than Aircraft. Now if I can do a base for it it’ll look better.

Jeff, the bar is a tent canopy. It’s lifted out of it’s rear corner bracket and placed into a bracket above the bottom one.

Gino, I did build all the shelving for the interior in my first post, but decided not to install the computer/electronics equipment. It was just way to dark to see anything.

Animal, an article..what kind and subject.

Liberator, those tires look great. Thanks for the tips.

Bison126, yes I did use the kits doors. I don’t know why I didn’t scratch them along with everything else.

Hey Chuck that looks cool. Yeah I'd like to give that a go, what truck is that ,can you get that in 1/35th and from who. It really doesn't look all that hard.

Joe, if your not a member of AMPS, you should be. This definately needs a write up. Very nice work.

Joe - the base truck is a Dodge 4x4, M37 I think. Skybow used to have one in 1/35, but don't know if it is OOP. You could start with their WC51 "Beep", the truck in the photo is just the '60's version. The "hut" of course is all custom stuff, the whole thing is refererred to as a MLQ-24. (military slang "Milky 24")
