Hi folks

I've been reading a book called "Steel Victory" by Harry Yeide. Its about America's independent Tank Battalions during the second world war. Yeide mentioned that a number of Shermans were painted with a camo scheme of black, gray, and OD, starting shortly after D-day until the end of the war.
I'm thinking of using this scheme for a upcoming project, but will need much more information. So can anyone help me out. The project idea has not really taken shape yet, but the idea of a camoed Sherman really jumped out at me. So if anyone could point me to a web site, a book title etc it would be a big help.

Thanks
Harry

Hey Harry
Not sure of the grey, but for Operation Cobra, (The 'breakout' of the Normandy beach head and bocage country) tanks attached to the 1st Army were (by official doctrine) to apply black camo over existing OD. This would include all associated tank battalions
Maybe search Op. Cobra & 1st Army?

P.S. I'm far from an expert but had time to reply :-)

Hi guys

Thanks for the replys. I googled both OP Cobra, and 1st Army and got alot to go through.

Chad, The books pretty good. Not much in the way of picture reference, but a pretty good history of a little known aspect of the US Army's TO&E during WWII.
