Hi All
This is my very first attempt at building a diorama after many years of modeling.
I used the Iatleri "Big Foot", Academy "M151A1" w/105mm Recoiless gun, Verlinden Mechanics crew and some Legends figures.
The story is pretty simple and that is the willys is driving in the rain on a muddy road and has punched a hole in it's motor(their is a stick in the water) and has leaked oil. The mechanics have come to fix it with the truck which has been done up a little bit. I made the rear jerry can holders on the back of the truck and on the battery box as well as ithe back section.
I hope you like it. It took me about 18 months off and on. The mechanic on the ground is stretching up under the willys so that is why he looks like that he might be floating. Follow the link. Please let me know of your comments

Thanks
Andrew (1AR)

If this is your first DIo, i wouldnt stop there. Great first showing. The muddy road looks amazing as well as the shrubbery.
Keep up the good work

Hi Andrew.. I must say you did an awesome job on your first dio! Very interesting layout. The weathering on the vehicles look great too... may I ask, what did you use to make the water puddle?

Keep it coming man...

A very well executed first dio. Congratulations.
Peraps some more mud-splashes on the hood on both vehicles would make it more realistic?

Well done, and keep that work going.

Andrew, for your first diorama this very excellent work. The mud looks very good and the build up of it is very realistic. One think that i would do is apply some mud to the soldiers feet and bottom of their pants on the guys standing and perhaps some more mud on the guy that is laying in front of the truck on the ground. With the amount of mud there, personally would think they would be just a bit more muddy... One other thing that i noticed is that where the jeep has backed up off the road..there should be mud tracks following the path that the jeep took onto the grass..

Great Job..and with this being your first..i can't wait to see what you do next...

Hi All
WOW i did not expect that sort of feedback. Thanks.
That is a good point about some more mud on the soldiers on the ground. I will do that.
The mud was created using a mixture of woodlands railway ballast and mig pigments. Then i used woodlands Realistic water to make the puddles.
Once again thanks for the great feed back.
The next project is a 1/35 blackhawk with rotors turning using mobile phone vibrating motors. Have seen this done on 1/48 planes. Looks great
Thanks
Andrew

Cracking dio mate!

Just a point, one of the first things that stood out in all that gooey, realistic mud... (I would REALLY HATE to be the mechanic on his back) is the almost pristine bonnet and grill on the lorry. It really needs mucking up. It is obvious that a lot of care and effort and work went into this so I hate to sound like a naggin' nanny, but I noticed the bonnet almost immediately.

Again, a cracking dio!

Hey Andrew , Great diorama mate !
I really really like the wet mud , looks like a busted sump , by the look of that oil ! Very well done .
My only issue is if I was the "fortunate " mechanic lying on my back near that mess is I think I would drag that camo net slung over the gun (or something ) down to lie on . Great work & looking forward to seeing more from you .

I really like this dio, Andrew. Excellent. Love all the details. And that mud looks perfect. But I agree that the mechanic should be lying on something.

Andrew, this is a great dio.. Congrats on this first one and let us to see the next .
The mud is very realistic, thanks for sharing your tehnique. It's a matter of choise but I think the mud is a liitle bit reddish. I would use some different earth colors, too.

Great DIO love the mud and the 5 TON looks great. The only thing is I do not beleive that the New 5 Tons were around when the willys were in service and I do not think that steel helmets were still in service either. I am not sure when the single tire dual axels came out but i do know that we had Kevlar helmets by the time it did. And the National Guard units still have the Old style 5 Tons with the dully tires in the rear with the old style fronts and they also have some newer as well as Active Duty units. but just watch the time period with the vehicles. just something i saw. and it really does look great. cant wait to see the UH-60.

When i started the dio i did a bit of research and found that both vechiles were in service at the same time for about 2 years. I cant remember what units.
The UH-60 is going to be interesting. I will get the motors over Xmas holidays and then start it.
Thanks
Andrew
