There isn't really much out there on this tank as it was never produced, to my knowledge. There is a line drawing of it in Schiffer Publishing's book "Panzer IV and its Variants" by Walter J. Spielberger. That's pretty much it.

Hi Gren,

As it happens, I'm building the Panzer IV "Schmallturm" by Azimut at the moment. A busy period at work means that progress is slow, but you can follow my attempts here .
This is a complete multi media kit, are you looking for this, or are you planning on scratchbuilding?

References are very thin on the ground, Alex is right, this one never seems to have come past the design stage. The turret would have over loaded the chassis to much. But it's a good looking Pzr, as are all Pzr IV's...

Cheers
Henk

Thomans Jentz has an issue of Panzer Tracts entitled Paper Panzers (#20-1). This might have some informations that would be of assistance. I've not seen that issue but the PanzerTracts I've got have always been a lot of help.
Good luck. Sound like an interesting build.

Hi Gren,

Two great references I have on the PzIV H are the Achtung Panzer Pz IV book and the Trojca PzIV G/H/J volume 2. They will set you back around $44CDN and $25CDN respectively....

Hi Henk

thanks a lot for the info, I'm not as brave or daft as you and am only attempting a 1/72 CMK conversion/Revell Pzr IV Ausf. H. Your work on the Azimut kit looks great and just the sort of detailing I will be doing on my kit.

Gren

PS Derek (Barton) The Artillery Guy - sends his best (you met him at the Nationals) and be assured I've taught him nothing he dos'nt know already

Hi Frank

many thanks for the references - I will try to have a look at these, do you know if these cover the proposed Schmallturm (Panther Turret) variant?

Here is what I got from the Panzer Tracts website:

Military History Books, 27 High Street, Hythe, Kent, England, UK
Tank Museum Trading Company, Tank Museum, Bovington, Dorset BH20 6JG, England

Sorry for the delay in response.
