hi everyone... this is my academy tiger I (early version) in progress. the hull interior is finshed, with the rear plate temporarily removed to show the engine. ...the kit was a real pleasure to build, even straight OOB as i did.
(edit dec 28th: scroll to bottom for latest pics)
...btw i've finished the turret interior too but haven't managed to take the pics yet... will do so later..
any comments are welcome...!

That looks really good. Although when I did mine, I did have a few fit problems. I wouldn't have called it a real pleasure. Keep us posted.

thanks for the comments mojo, erik67 & parks20.
...quite right... there were some problems with the hull top and sides, and the turret roof... and the instructions are kinda vague on the turret interior stowage and the feifel duct tubes (?)... but an enjoyable build nevertheless...

hi ian.
...do you mean the interior colours? i used humbrol enamel light grey (can't remember the number though)... for the fuel tanks i used humbrol red brown, pre-shaded and dry-brushed...
and yes... ALL of them are included in the kit...

hi again... these are the follow-up progress pics of the academy tiger (see top of post).
all the interior thingies are in place, i painted the hull colour when... hey, something is not right here- seems the yellow is too dark/brownish (FYI i used tamiya desert yellow - DOH!)... hmmm.... now guess i have to repaint the exterior again with dunkelgelb...
p/s: some sub-assemblies (left smoke discharger, turret periscope blocks) have fallen off & the gap at the turret rear - to be fixed later...
comments are most welcome... thanks..

Hey mojimbo.. Looking good pal.. I think you are right, the yellow is a bit to brownish.. Could try mixing a bit of buff in, or doing a post shade of buff, that might tone down the clolour a bit.. Still, A fine looking build...

very nice Tiger you got there moJimbo. Love the attention to detail that was paid on this model.
Just curious how you intend to keep the interior viewable after the model is complete. Will certain parts of the hull be removable?

thanks for the comments....
dave, i'm going to repaint it with dunkelgelb, probably add a little buff to it... then have to go through the preshading stage again.
jeremy, the interior is completely viewable. the hull's entire top panel, including the engine deck plates are removable... the front glacis plates too can be opened to show the transmission but i glued them in place. the turret top can be left open as in the pics.... anfd the best part is everything can be put together snugly if i want to show only the exterior views.
if you're a tiger or axis armor builder, despite the kit's minor shortcomings, this is the kit you have to build!

Fantastic build there Mojimbo! That is a very cool kit, with all that interior with it I like it a lot. Be nice to see more kits come like that, if one was interested in doing a full interior and exterior. Good work!

yeah, apart from academy and trumpeter (1/16 t-34s) no other kit company is interested in making a full plastic-injection interior.... i wonder why? a full 1/35 interior panther or grant will be nice...

Gunmonkey,
You get all that and some PE screens in the kit you can pick it up easy enough for about £25 in most shops (just make sure you get the right one as there is a kit without interior but it does say it on the box)......you can beat it for the price

OK, if you want a full-interior Panther or Grant, where are the necessary drawings and research?

I'd be all for a Panther with interior.
