HI Jenny,
Is this the car you locked the poor defenseless puppy in? LOL :-) :-)
Seriously, this looks great! What scale is it? I like your use of filters.... haven't been brave enough to try them meself yet...
Just one criticism.... the white decals look too bright... try weathering or fading them a bit.... if all else fails... cover them with mud! LOL :-) :-)

Jenny...I think you have done a pretty good job here..and for this being your first time with an airbrush..not bad at all..
A couple of things that i did notice.....for my taste..The paint job looks a little too new..the colors need to be blended into each other a little to soften the hard edge. This can easily be done by by using a highly thinned spray of buff paint or whatever color you used for your base..over the body of the car. Also..and this may just be the pictures..but it seems to be just a tad bit on the shiny side. A nice dull coat could solve this.
Good work..and keep us posted on your progress..

Nice build Jenny, but I have to agree with Rudi. Some weathering on markings would improve look of your car.

I actually like it the way it is, a lot. I built a KW a couple years ago and it was a bad job. Seeing this one kinda makes me wanna take another shot at one.
Great build!

Jenny -
Very well done Kubel. I very much like the camo and the weathering. Think this will fit very well into your "Bridge" dio. Might think about a little mud around wheels and undercarriage? This would allow you to bring the mud up the front and tone down the decals slighty. See you've got the decals set up to show 116th Panzer Division so this would be after Normandy breakout, July/Aug 1944 timeframe? The 116th was sent to Pas-de-Calaise area and was virtually wiped out in Falaise Pocket and what was left ended up in Aachen, so they'd look pretty beaten up. Great work and keep us posted on "Bridge" progress.

Great work so far! The only negitive comment I have is the top has too much shine to it. It needs to be dead pan flat. The build, painting, weathering looks good. I am enjoying watching this build...

Congrats on the job well done Jenny!
I like it overall much
I agree on some shiny details to be fixed and also one small thing, some of tires still show "assembly line" in the middle that need to be sanded off or in ur case (since i guess tires are already glued on the vehicle) covered a bit more with mud
good job, keep 'em coming!

I like the Kubel,Jenny.I agree with the shiny canvas cover, that can be flat coated again.Pictures are the best way to look at a project, and discover odds and ends which need adjusting.
Also when you think of the kubel driving THROUGH the enviornment, the front will get the brunt of the heavy mud and splash.Go ahead and add more, especially on the license plate.

Thnx for sharing you pics Jenny. Great looking Kubel. May I offer one suggestion?
Your camo colors show "splatter" and that's fine. That's apparent often in photos. However, if you want to later make finer edges or wavy snake camo schemes, you'll want to experiment with your airbrush a little more.
Coming from 1/72 aircraft building, here's how I learned to have very "tight" spray edges:
paint (acrylic or enamel, your choice) should be thinned anywhere between 2:1 (paint to thinner) to 1:1. About the consistency of milk or thinner.
Ramp down your airpressure to about 8-12 PSI, get your finest nozzle and hold it about 2-3cm from the model's surface.
You'll need to keep a bit of thinner nearby with a cotton swab -- clean your nozzle frequently to prevent buildup by dabbing with the wet cotton swab.
Experiment and you'll begin to see how much control you can really have.
Best rgrds,
RC

Jenny, your kubelwagon looks good, very good! only thing id recomend is reading Roys post for the paintjob, this would next time make your already good looking project even better. Ive had a hard time and avoided ambush camos for the longest time until i got the hang of it.
Good Job!

Hey guys ,
Having the Kubelwagen behind me at this moment ,I can reinforce that it is very Flat in its finish .
I reckon for your very first airbrush job , this is brilliant .
My first one was pathetic . If the improvement is there after every kit you will be brilliant in no time .
I am very proud of you Babe !

Jenny, you could also try refelected light for your photo.. If your flash has an adjustable head to it, point it up about 45 degrees and take a few test shots.. Perhaps in a room with a lightly coloured wall.. it will help reflect more of the flash.. Or set up a few lamps over and around the subject.. It will help reduce any shadows.. Hope it helps.. I normally get one good shot out of 5 when photographing my kits... :-)
Nice looking kit BTW...
Hope it helps

Hi Jenny,
Good looking softskin.
While I tend to dull the paint of my ground targets, I don't accept that all vehicles have to be faded, just as I do not accept that all aircraft have to be faded, chipped, etc. Consider attrition. This lil' Jerry-jeep may have just survived a train ride from the resupply depot, or not been to the "sharp end" before. Personally, I prefer showing vehicles that have been battered and bruised but this should not be a hard and fast rule.
Now for a critique. Are those seam lines on the tires Consider sanding them away. That said, allow me to contradict myself: 1/1 Scale Tire Seam Molds and follow the other links, to this: Tire Seams on a ATG
Airbrush spatter you will learn to overcome. Your paint job looks good.

Hey Jenny!
The kubel looks great! The 3 tone camo scheme is awesome especially for a first timer. I see the kubel belongs to the 116th panzer division "Windhund". Theres actually a reenactment unit in arizona that portrays that unit. I have a picture of me standing next to one of their halftracks during a reenactment. The guy who owns the halftrack baught it off of speilburg. you can see the halftrack in Band of Brotheres, episode i dunno but its the one where they are riding into nuenen on a tank and have to get off real quick cuz they see a halftrack... then the halftracks side gets blown up. yeah, thats the halftrack in the picture. but anyways, keep up the good work! and keep us posted
PS: the pic of me is in my gallery.
