I figured that I've been here for a few months, so its time to finally post some of my stuff.
This is my 1/72 M3 Lee from Mirage. It recieved a bronze in the KC AMPS show in October.
The model was built OOTB. I gave it a base coat of MM olive drab followed by a burnt umber oil wash and drybrushing with a mix of MM flat black and dark gray. I finished it off with pastel chalk, although I think just a little too much.
The ground cover is Woodland Scenics static grass and dirt. The foliage was made from printer paper, solder, masking tape, and tissue paper. The palm tree was constructed similar to the article here on Armorama, but on a smaller scale and with solder wrapped in masking tape for a trunk instead of electrical wire.
The base was made of two parts. The bottom half is simply a block of wood. The top half is a piece of styrofoam cut and shaped, then covered in Durham's water putty. Once glued together and the seam filled, I painted it with MM panzer chocolate brown. I thought I had done a decent job of joining the two parts, but it appears that the seam has shown itself again after a few travels. I gave it a fresh coat of paint before taking the pics.
Thats basically all there is to this model. All coments and criticisms are greatly accepted!
Thanks for looking!
Chris

Chris, nice work! I thought it was 1/35th at first. Why don't you submit some pictures of your best work as an On Display feature? PM me if you're not sure how!

Hi Chris, I like this even more than when I first saw it at the show. It was one of the things that got brought out last at the show and I never got pics of it. I am real impressed with your skills in the Braille scale, as well as your work in the base with the plant and tree. I think you should post this over in dio's forum as we dont see to much in braille over there. Seeing your small scale stuff made me want to give it a try so soon I will be building a Su100. Looking forward to seeing more of your work posted!!! Cheers Kevin

Wow, Vinnie, you really think my work is good enough for a feature? Thanks! I might give it a try, but it will be a while. I only have two other finished models here at school, and I really don't think they are my best. (and only one is another armor model, the other is scifi) The rest are back at home, 200 miles away, and I won't make it back for another three-ish weeks. I could probably put one together over break, though. And I have a better camera back at home!
Thanks!
Chris

Mary, Kevin, thanks for the kind words. Comments like that mean a whole lot coming from people like you. I'm glad to have met y'all through Armorama and the shows, and I will be sure to post more of my work...when I have it on hand. Right now I only have my Marder III and Rifleman Mech with me besides the Lee, and I'll try to get those up sometime soon. (both were also at AMPS)
Kevin: Small is not bad! Your 1/35 work is absolutely amazing, so I can't wait to see what you do in braille scale. What kit is your Su100? UM?

Very nice, dynamic pose. Any troubles with the Mirage kit? I have a couple of them waiting in the wings myself.

Very cool dio stage there Chris. The Lee looks very nice. Dust works nicely on her.

Thanks for the great comments, everyone. I'm glad I finally stopped lurking...again...and posted something.
Robin: Thanks. I honestly thought it looked a little boring sitting flat, so I decided to put it on a steep slope. Seems to have worked. The Mirage kit was real nice. It was probably a little over-engineered, if anything. There were very small parts, and a lot of them! I think I may have skipped a few, or lost them, but I cannot remember off the top of my head. The PE in the kit is also not completely necessary. Most of it is just interior detail for the side hatches, which I left closed. I used the two light guards, but the engine screen molded into the plastic seemed decent enough, so that PE part wasn't used either.
Hilbert and Ken: Thanks! You don't think it is too dusty? I guess I didn't use too much...
Kevin: I've heard of Cooperative, but don't have any of their kits. From what I hear, the detail isn't the sharpest, and the fit can be fiddly at times, but otherwise they are good kits. I'm sure you'll do fine with it!

No. I do not think it is too dusty at all. In fact I have plenty of pics of the vehicle literally covered with dust. So, in essence, you could even get away with putting more on.
