Very cool. I am assuming a converted Tamiya? Do they use the barrel that you used with the flash suppressor?
What does the Gun Truck PLT fall into? A transportation company?
This is a very creative piece. Great job.

Looks great as usual Dave. It looks more like a converted Italeri M998 to me. .50 cal looks like from an Academy kit. The mirrors look like they are from an M35A2/M49A2C truck as well. Great job working with a less-than-perfect kit. Badge decal looks awesome too.

Thanks Jeff and Gino. The model was built from parts from my spares box. It is Italeri, Hobby Craft, Academy, Pro Arts resin and a lot of Evergreen Plastic stock. The decals are made on my computer. The 518th GTK is or was part of the 812 Transportation Bn. of the 375 Gp. The Plt Leader is 1st Lt. James McCormick. I am starting on the Zebra gun truck now. I am using the Tamiya 1025 HUMVEE kit as my base kit. I will be using some of the Pro Arts conversions and a lot of plastic stock to finish it.

Hello,
My name is Rob Landry. I was the founder and commander of the 518th Gun Truck Company. This model is incredible. Is this the only one? Can it be purchased? I would love to purchase one. Please let me know. Thanks Rob Landry (Regulator 6)

Send an email or private message to Dave "Animal" Willet above. He has made many models on commission. If he can't help you out, give me a yell and I can build one for you.

WOW dave, something close to home! Looks great as usual!
Rob, sir, if you don't mind me asking, how was your unit made up? Meaning, since Dave said it was a Texas National Guard unit and your from Alabama? I know that there where some or a unit that left to Iraq before my Brigade went.

I would have paid money to be a member of the 518th, but I couldn't get orders cut. I have some pictures of their old trucks (most of which unfortunately have been turned into training aids in Kuwait).
Thats a great looking model, and I can't wait to see some more!

hey, i'm new to this site.
I noticed that "rob" never replied to your post. I was one of the original 518th members, the unit was a provisional unit with members from the national guard, army reserve, and a few active duty, the unit members were from all over, myself being from florida. Most everyone one in the unit were volunteers from transportation companies stationed at Camp Navstar in Kuwait. the unit was also disbanded around the end of April first of march in 05
